No Religion Higher Than Truth PDF Author: Maria Carlson

Category : Religion

Pages : 310

Book Description
Among the various kinds of occultism popular during the Russian Silver Age (1890-1914), modern Theosophy was by far the most intellectually significant. This contemporary gnostic gospel was invented and disseminated by Helena Blavatsky, an expatriate Russian with an enthusiasm for Buddhist thought and a genius for self-promotion. What distinguished Theosophy from the other kinds of "mysticism"—the spiritualism, table turning, fortune-telling, and magic—that fascinated the Russian intelligentsia of the period? In answering this question, Maria Carlson offers the first scholarly study of a controversial but important movement in its Russian context. Carlson's is the only work on this topic written by an intellectual historian not ideologically committed to Theosophy. Placing Mme Blavatsky and her "secret doctrine" in a Russian setting, the book also discusses independent Russian Theosophical circles and the impact of the Theosophical-Anthroposophical schism in Russia. It surveys the vigorous polemics of the Theosophists and their critics, demonstrates Theosophy's role in the philosophical dialogues of the Russian creative intelligentsia, and chronicles the demise of the movement after 1917. By exploring this long neglected aspect of the Silver Age, Carlson greatly enriches our knowledge of fin-de-sicle Russian culture. Originally published in 1993. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Aletheia is our God and Dogma

Aletheia is our God and Dogma PDF Author: Helena Petrovna Blavatsky
Publisher: Philaletheians UK
ISBN:
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 11

Book Description
Modern Science and Religions dissemble Truth. Only the Theogony of the Ancient Wisdom-Religion may afford a rare glimpse of Truth. And then Nature will give up her secrets to those who seek Truth for her own sake. And to those who are devoted to Truth, who disregard personal benefit, and who persevere and teach. Verily, that which is justice is truth. As a thing is not just because God wills it, but God wills it because it is just, so there can be no Religion more true or just, than to know the things that are, no Religion higher than Truth. Neither can happiness exist where Truth is absent and where intellectual progress refuses to be subordinated to ethical growth. If bereft of Truth, the whole world will turn upside down. That is why Philaletheia is every true Theosophist’s god and dogma.

Faith Without Religion

Faith Without Religion PDF Author: Dr Robert Harris

Pages : 386

Book Description
I disassociated myself from formal religion as a teenager, and for many years thereafter I never gave it much thought. But that was to change. As I delved more deeply into my passions for cosmology, biological anthropology, and psychology, I began to develop a deep belief in a power that exists in the universe that is not all that dissimilar to the religious perception of a personalized anthropomorphic god.Further research indicated that I was not alone. Many of the great minds of our time held, or continue to hold, a similar belief in a universal force that is at one with nature. A benevolent force that does not demand our subservience and worship, but which is the creator and nurturer of the universe, and perhaps universes, and all it contains; including the miraculous creation of life.My faith in this belief is unwavering, a faith so profound and real that it has supplied answers that were never available to me while I was immersed in, and blinded by what I began to recognize as the improbability of religious dogma. But does religious enlightenment and freedom from the yoke of Creationist thought mean we will find ourselves living in an atheistic void? Certainly not! By shaking the very foundations upon which religion is based, Faith Without Religion will free you to believe in a higher power without the burden of guilt imposed by organized religion.WHY THIS BOOK?I believe the only way to truly evaluate religious beliefs and its tenets is to look inside the various holy books and texts in order to determine the veracity of that which religious movements claim is sacrosanct, and the undisputed word of God.In Faith Without Religion I examine all of the principle religious texts, not in isolation, but as a comparative study. The results may shock you, as certainly they shocked me, but with knowledge comes enlightenment, without which we would still be living in the Dark Ages.

Religion is one topic that could spur heated debates yet this institution, which is supposed to sow love and peace, has become an instigator of war and the division of mankind. Is there any way to unite all the people in worshipping the one God, The Creator of all? Joan Samuel's view of religion is as a whole that is divided into many parts and believes that one is connected to the other like pieces of a puzzle. She says that the answers to perplexing questions about one's religion could be found in another religion, and is a means to develop a deeper understanding of God. In her belief there is no wrong religion. Instead of hating one religion over another, she asks that each person respect the other and be united by thruth to attain a higher form of spirituality. Book Description
At present the world is full of non-Aryans and they all are living with following four negative visions. 1. Selfish or greedy thoughts. 2. Writhe or angry thoughts. 3. Living with Ignorance of universal Truths or facts. 4. Miserly or collecting thoughts always. All above negative visions are harmful to the self as well as the Nature. Due to this negative visions always tempt to think, talk, and act negative way. Those negative activities generate negative synergies automatically and store in the unconscious mind located out side of the body. Finally those negative synergies will create problems and Suffers in both lives of the individuals. In short it is the cause = effect reality or the law of nature in the universe forever. Since there is no mind for the four matters those will not suffer at all. But all 33 kinds of beings are suffering due to above natural changing eternally. The mind has eternal life unless it segregated in to six parts. It is totally a paranormal or psychical process. The non diminishing positive synergy will provide the necessary power to this process completely. Once segregated the mind there would not be re-birth or death again. So this is the one and only strategy found by all 28 Buddhas born in this present world. That is the only way/path for complete eradication of all suffers and problems of self. All non-Aryans due to their ignorance of facts applying scientific and technological knowledge for mentally created problems and suffers. So it is irrelevant completely. Those artificial solutions are against the nature and not sustainable at all. Since those are against the nature the nature always tries to destroy and impose punishments on those individuals in both lives. All Gods, Brhammas, Buddhas also subjected to this Law of nature totally. So no one can mitigate or pardon any of those punishments at all. So it is useless for praying, making Pujas, Transferring merits, etc. All religions and philosophies in the world are bluffing and misleading totally for their negative living. Only the non-Aryans believe these false stories. All Aryans are totally rejecting those myths. I have tried to explain the real Truth with natural proof in this Book. I hope if you have the will and effort you could realized the Truth very easily. If not you could read my other Books also for more information.

Evolution And Intelligent Design in the Secret Doctrine

Evolution And Intelligent Design in the Secret Doctrine PDF Author: Editorial Board of Theosophy Trust
Publisher: iUniverse
ISBN: 0595387381
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 267

Book Description
The pendulum of thought oscillates between extremes. Having now finally emancipated herself from the shackles of theology, Science has embraced the opposite fallacy; and in the attempt to interpret Nature on purely materialistic lines, she has built up that most extravagant theory of the ages-the derivation of man from a ferocious and brutal ape. So rooted has this doctrine, in one form or another, now become, that the most Herculean efforts will be needed to bring about its final rejection. The Darwinian anthropology is the incubus of the ethnologist, a sturdy child of modern Materialism, which has grown up and acquired increasing vigour, as the ineptitude of the theological legend of Man's 'creation" became more and more apparent. It has thriven on account of the strange delusion that-as a scientist of repute puts it-'All hypotheses and theories with respect to the rise of man can be reduced to two (the Evolutionist and the Biblical exoteric account).. There is no other hypothesis conceivable."! The anthropology of the secret volumes is, however, the best possible answer to such a worthless contention. "The Secret Doctrine," "ii 689"

The Path

The Path PDF Author: William Quan Judge
Publisher: CreateSpace
ISBN: 9781517319601
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 404

Book Description
The Path is a theosophical magazine published between the years 1886 and 1896, under the editorship of William Quan Judge, co-founder of the Theosophical Society. The current print is a clean facsimile reprint of the original, produced from a high-quality scan. William Quan Judge on The Path: "The Path was not started because its projectors thought that they alone knew the true Path, but solely out of an intense longing to direct inquiring minds towards a way which had seemed to many persons who had tried it, to hold out the possibility of finding an answer to the burning questions that vex the human heart. "The question is always naturally asked 'What is the Path?' or 'What is the Philosophy?' which is the same thing, for of course the following of any path whatever will depend upon the particular philosophy or doctrines believed in. The path we had in view is held by us to be the same one which in all ages has been sought by Heathen, Jew and Christian alike. By some called the path to Heaven, by others the path to Jesus, the path to Nirvana, and by the Theosophists the path to Truth. Jesus has defined it as a narrow, difficult and straight path. By the ancient Brahmins it has been called, 'the small old path leading far away on which those sages walk who reach salvation;' and Buddha thought it was a noble fourfold path by which alone the miseries of existence can be truly surmounted. ... "Thus it happens that Theosophists have many different views of how the path should be followed, but none of them disagree with the statement that there must be one Truth, and that no religion can be called higher than Truth. We therefore have pursued, as far as possible, a course which is the result of the belief that the prevalence of similar doctrines in the writings and traditions of all peoples points to the fact that the true religion is that one which will find the basic ideas common to all philosophies and religions."-William Q. Judge, "A Year on the Path," The Path, March, 1887
