Book Description
"The present research effort was designed to examine the effects of units' home-station preparation upon their Virtual Training Program (VTP) activities. Also examined were the effects of the VTP upon units and unit leaders who had previously been through this training program. This investigation involved having unit leaders from platoons complete questionnaires on their preparation and sense of confidence in their own and their unit's tactical proficiency. Also, the VTP instructors completed questionnaire items on the participants' performance and level of preparation. Findings from both assessments provided further evidence for the VIP's instructional value. The participants' questionnaire responses indicated that the VTP had a significant, though modest, impact upon VTP-experienced unit leaders' sense of confidence in their own and their unit's tactical proficiency. The instructors' data suggested that the VTP had a salient effect upon the tactical skill proficiency of the sampled unit leaders. Their data also showed that home-station preparation did have an impact upon the training participants' VTP performance, and that many units were unprepared for their VIP rotation."--DTIC.
