Consolidated guidelines on HIV prevention, testing, treatment, service delivery and monitoring PDF Author: World Health Organization
Publisher: World Health Organization
ISBN: 9240031596
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 592

Book Description
These consolidated guidelines on HIV prevention, testing, treatment, service delivery and monitoring bring together existing and new clinical and programmatic recommendations across different ages, populations and settings, bringing together all relevant WHO guidance on HIV produced since 2016. It serves as an update to the previous edition of the consolidated guidelines on HIV. These guidelines continue to be structured along the continuum of HIV care. Information on new combination prevention approaches, HIV testing, ARV regimens and treatment monitoring are included. There is a new chapter on advanced HIV disease that integrates updated guidance on the management of important HIV comorbidities, including cryptococcal disease, histoplasmosis and tuberculosis. The chapter on general HIV care, contains a new section on palliative care and pain management, and up to date information on treatment of several neglected tropical diseases, such as visceral leishmaniasis and Buruli ulcer. New recommendations for screening and treating of cervical pre-cancer lesions in women living with HIV are also addressed in this chapter. Guidance on service delivery was expanded to help the implementation and strengthening the HIV care cascade. Importantly, this guidance emphasizes the need for differentiated approaches to care for people who are established on ART, such as reduced frequency of clinic visits, use of multi-month drug dispensing and implementation of community ART distribution. The adoption of these efficiencies is essential to improve the quality of care of people receiving treatment and reduce the burden on health facilities, particularly in resource limited settings.

ISBN: 0313382999
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 532

Book Description
This unprecedented set examines the most prominent factors that harm or support healthy development in children outside the United States, from abuse and economics to social injustice and poor public policy. In International Perspectives on Children and Mental Health, expert contributors from around the world examine the forces affecting the psychological well-being of children in regions worldwide. They consider such factors as family conditions and economic status, including single parents, poverty, disease, war, child abuse, substance abuse in the home, and a loss of community stability. And they look at political, religious, national, and global matters, including racism and class inequality. Since education is key to children's success, the essays consider these factors largely in the context of how they affect educational readiness and academic adjustment. Volume 1 of the set considers development and context, while volume 2 focuses on prevention and treatment. Specific examples enable readers to better understand the often-horrific challenges to child development and mental health across nations. But the work is not limited to exploring problems. It also looks at various programs and actions that mitigate risks, helping children to be mentally healthy despite the odds.

Book Description
The Ummah disrupts some of the assumptions of liberal citizenship, specifically the role of the individual and the secular characters of that citizenship. Such disruption is achieved through drawing on pre-colonial memories. Concerning the wider discussion on the global understanding of certain groups within established populations, this book traces how Muslims and non-Muslims in a single international organization help South African women interact with the norms of global partnership. The aim of writing this book is none other than to help readers understand the situation of women of South Africa confronting AIDS disease during the COVID-19 crisis. COVID-19 crises have caused clinical and deadly diseases in humans that extended to more groups of people around the world including women. This book provided satisfactory information regarding the role of the international front line in protecting and empowering women in South Africa particularly. This book specifically highlighted the role of the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) in dealing with HIV/AIDS in South Africa. South Africa is a country with a very high number of HIV in the world. HIV/AIDS is a disease that ranks number one in South Africa and number four globally. The high rate of HIV in South Africa is caused by modernization, a lack of public understanding of the dangers of HIV, and gender inequality. An international organization has taken responsible steps for the problem of HIV/AIDS in this country. UNAIDS is seen as a bearer of light for people in the world, especially for South African countries after providing aid programs in collaboration with other international organizations.
