Along the way he served nearly four years overseas during World War II, covered the White House as a newsman under FDR's Presidency, was Time Magazine's National Economics Correspondent, and later was a public relations executive and consultant in Wall Street. Publisher: Xulon Press
ISBN: 1604778695
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 190

Book Description
Presenting the Truths of the Bible in a Contemporary, Engaging Style With over 300 Inspirational Rhymes The author, Simon Siewsaran, is the Founder and Senior Pastor of the Everlasting Gospel Church (established in 1997), a vibrant community ministry, located at Enterprise, Trinidad. Pastor Siewsaran is also the host of "Don't Give Up," a popular radio broadcast that began in 2001 and is heard throughout Trinidad & Tobago and the southern Caribbean. His early years in ministry were primarily among delinquent youths, including drug addicts, and during this time was himself the target of numerous molestations from fellow villagers. Yet signs and wonders continue to follow this servant of God who has impacted thousands of lives in honour of the Kingdom. His effervescent, lyrical style of preaching endears him to both young and old; and his anointed ministry extends beyond his pastoral duties, most notably as the President of "Touch T&T Ministries," a para-church organization that conducts national events, including crusades, concerts and prayer assemblies. Pastor Siewsaran's missionary trips include the Holy Land - three occasions - Egypt, England, Holland, USA and the Caribbean islands of Antigua, Barbados and St. Lucia. In 1997 he received the title of Jerusalem Pilgrim from Israel's Ministry of Tourism. He is the husband of Johanna and the father of two daughters, Victoria Sarah and Gloria Elizabeth.

Spies in the Congo

Spies in the Congo PDF Author: Susan Williams
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 1849049521
Category : Atomic bomb
Languages : en
Pages : 395

Book Description
Spies in the Congo is the untold story of one of the most tightly-guarded secrets of the Second World War: America's desperate struggle to secure enough uranium to build its atomic bomb. The Shinkolobwe mine in the Belgian Congo was the most important deposit of uranium yet discovered anywhere on earth, vital to the success of the Manhattan Project. Given that Germany was also working on an atomic bomb, it was an urgent priority for the US to prevent uranium from the Congo being diverted to the enemy - a task entrusted to Washington's elite secret intelligence agents. Sent undercover to colonial Africa to track the ore and to hunt Nazi collaborators, their assignment was made even tougher by the complex political reality and by tensions with Belgian and British officials. A gripping spy-thriller, Spies in the Congo is the true story of unsung heroism, of the handful of good men -- and one woman -- in Africa who were determined to deny Hitler his bomb.

The Deadline Effect

The Deadline Effect PDF Author: Christopher Cox
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 1982132280
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 240

Book Description
In the tradition of Charles Duhigg’s The Power of Habit, a wise and fascinating book that shows us how “we can make deadlines work for us instead of the other way around” (The Wall Street Journal). Perfectionists and procrastinators alike agree—it’s natural to dread a deadline. Whether you are completing a masterpiece or just checking off an overwhelming to-do list, the ticking clock signals despair. Christopher Cox knows the panic of the looming deadline all too well—as a magazine editor, he has spent years overseeing writers and journalists who couldn’t meet a deadline to save their lives. After putting in a few too many late nights in the newsroom, he became determined to learn the secret of managing deadlines. He set off to observe nine different organizations as they approached a high-pressure deadline. Along the way, Cox made an even greater discovery: these experts didn’t just meet their big deadlines—they became more focused, productive, and creative in the process. An entertaining blend of “behavioral science, psychological theory, and academic studies with compelling storytelling and descriptive case studies” (Financial Times), The Deadline Effect reveals the time-management strategies these teams used to guarantee success while staying on schedule: a restaurant opening for the first time, a ski resort covering an entire mountain in snow, a farm growing enough lilies in time for Easter, and more. Cox explains how to use deadlines to our advantage, the dynamics of teams and customers, and techniques for using deadlines to make better, more effective decisions.

Man of Few Words

Man of Few Words PDF Author: Fabian M.C. Kuykendall
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1453507167
Category : Poetry
Languages : en
Pages : 420

Book Description
Man of Few Words is my story. It reads like a journal that chronicles my life. It’s a compilation of poems, songs, essays, short stories, and thoughts derived from experiences both direct and indirect, fiction and nonfiction. This book is my truth, my autobiography, words that are written on the pages of me. The irony of the title is not to be lost on the reader; though I’m a man of few words, I have so much to say. I discovered a passion for poetry at the age of fourteen. During this period, I was going through a lot of changes in my life. I had just moved with my grandma to what was a spiritually binding neighborhood and I was just beginning high school. As I felt my childhood was over, I quickly fell into a depression and subsequently dropped out of school. I was confused and overwhelmed by emotions that I’d never felt before. Feeling the need to express myself, I was fatefully inspired to write. I began writing what I call “albums” of conceptual compositions, collections of poems that would later become the chapters of my book. While I didn’t use my entire catalogue for this book, I chose the compositions that I feel best represent my artistic vision. These poems are listed in chronological order, revealing my journey and evolution of words. This book was inspired by my irrepressible need for creative expression. I always thought that I’d write a book somewhere down the line, but that somewhere became here and that here became now. It’s amazing how your destiny has a way of claiming you before you realize your destiny. I used to dream of being a music producer, and I thought that because I dreamed it, this was what I was supposed to be. But my dreams were interrupted when my true calling chose me. Writing became a passion of mine because it allowed me to fully and fearlessly represent myself. Anything I want to be or say can be done with the boundlessness of artistic freedom. I am free to be an artist as I paint images with words. In many ways, writing communicates a message more clearly and profoundly than spoken language. When someone is reading your written word, they are forced to listen and actually hear what you have to say. I believe that the hardships I went through as a teenager was for this purpose, to write these words that tell my story. It might even seem like a gift from depression, but I believe that my calling is a gift from God. For this reason, it is my obligation to share my gift. I just might inspire someone else to write as they read my story and find the motivation to tell their own. My goal, through my words, is to be the impetus that provides people with a deeper respect for the craft. What I hope to accomplish with this book is to have people gain a more profound understanding of me. I believe that I have a lot to offer through my words for those who are interested and willing to listen. To many people, I’m a man of few words because I don’t often reveal myself through my personality or my existence. What I want these and other people to know is that there’s more to me; I’m not just one-dimensional. I’m a host of imperfections and contradictions with a multifaceted depth. I encourage you to learn me, to read my words and not my silence.

Heartfelt Thoughts: Chapters Six & Seven

Heartfelt Thoughts: Chapters Six & Seven PDF Author: James L. Harter Sr.
Publisher: iUniverse
ISBN: 1462018297
Category : Poetry
Languages : en
Pages : 133

Book Description
Writing poetry, to me, is one of the best therapies that I can imagine. It matters not what the subject may be or what the feeling happens to be;p when the lines are written, the heart becomes light and free. The things on this earth are so exciting and wonderful that merely writing about the antics of an insect can be an enthralling learning experience. A purging of the mind, heart and soul is exhilarating; and one can feel cleansed, even if only for a little while. ....to explore....to go on never as before....to wander into infinity....what else is there in store? ....we love, we cry, we sing, we praise, we live, we die....yet. life goes on.
