Three Essays on Productivity (RLE: Business Cycles)

Three Essays on Productivity (RLE: Business Cycles) PDF Author: Mark J. Lasky
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1317502515
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 186

Book Description
The behaviour of US productivity since this book was originally publishedin 1994, has added new relevance to the relationship between profits and productivity. In the long run, productivity growth determines the economic standard of living. This book is divided into three parts: the basis of the first is the empirical finding that, controlling for normal business cycle effects, productivity grows faster when profits have been low than otherwise. The second part discusses how to measure marginal cost using time series data and the third tests a basic assumption that productivity growth is exogenous to labour and capital.

The Impact of Demographics on Productivity and Inflation in Japan

The Impact of Demographics on Productivity and Inflation in Japan PDF Author: Mr.Niklas J Westelius
Publisher: International Monetary Fund
ISBN: 1475559712
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 18

Book Description
Is Japan’s aging and, more recently, declining population hampering growth and reflation efforts? Exploiting demographic and economic variation in prefectural data between 1990 and 2007, we find that aging of the working age population has had a significant negative impact on total factor productivity. Moreover, prefectures that aged at a faster pace experienced lower overall inflation, while prefectures with higher population growth experienced higher inflation. The results give strong support to the notion that demographic headwinds can have a non-trivial impact on total factor productivity and deflationary pressures.

Intercropping Under Rice-Based Cropping System: An Experimental Study on Productivity and Profitability

Intercropping Under Rice-Based Cropping System: An Experimental Study on Productivity and Profitability PDF Author: Manish Kumar Singh
Publisher: Anchor Academic Publishing (aap_verlag)
ISBN: 3954896222
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 142

Book Description
Rice farmers are mostly involved in monoculture practices. This deprives the land for growing other food crops. Hence, a better alternative of mono/sole cropping is required to overcome this shortcoming. Therefore, a shift from mono cropping to inter/multiple cropping as an excellent strategy for intensifying land use and increasing income and production per unit area and time is appreciated. Production efficiency, economic efficiency and employment generation efficiency of any diversified system is a direct measure of its preferability. Keeping this view in mind, this study deals with the production potential and economic viability of different rabi intercropping in rabi cereal, legume, oilseeds and spices to identify the suitable/remunerative rice (Oryza sativa L.) based cropping systems.
