A 2 (male vs. female subject) by 2 (success vs. failure) by 3 (objective self-awareness vs. control vs. time control) by 2 (high vs. low self-esteem subjects) design was employed. Objective self-awareness was manipulated by exposing subjects to their image on a wall mirror after they received the success or failure experience.
