Book Description
From a multiple Edgar Award winner: Three gripping accounts of murder, betrayal, and greed that made headlines and shocked the nation. A Pulitzer Prize nominee for his landmark work, The Court-Martial of Lt. Calley, Richard Hammer is a fearless chronicler of the dark side of human nature. Here in one volume are three of his most electrifying true crime accounts. The CBS Murders: On a warm spring evening in New York City, four people were shot in a parking lot near the CBS television studios in Midtown. But detectives soon discovered that only one victim was the intended target; the others were eyewitnesses who tragically stumbled onto the scene of the crime. In this Edgar Award–winning account, the NYPD sets out on the trail of a merciless assassin, uncovering one of the most diabolical criminal conspiracies in the city’s history. “A gripping police procedural.” —Kirkus Reviews Beyond Obsession: Joyce Aparo seemed to be the perfect single mother, doting on her daughter, Karin. But behind closed doors, Joyce had been viciously abusing the sixteen-year-old violin prodigy for years. Then, Karin met the equally troubled Dennis Coleman, and the two fell head-over-heels into lustful infatuation. Soon after, Joyce’s strangled body was found under a bridge. Dennis would eventually confess to the murder, claiming Karin begged him to kill her mother. But Karin had a very different story to tell. Was this really a twisted case of love and obsession, or was Karin now manipulating the police the same way she manipulated her former boyfriend? “This true-crime tale has all the elements of a novel . . . A satisfying read.” —Library Journal The Vatican Connection: Matteo de Lorenzo was one of the New York mob’s top earners when he and his ruthless business partner, Vincent Rizzo, traveled to Europe to discuss a plan to launder millions of dollars worth of phony securities. Their partner in crime? Archbishop Paul Marcinkus, the scandal-plagued president of the Vatican Bank. What they didn’t know was that Det. Joseph Coffey was already on their trail. The legendary New York policeman worked tirelessly to trace the fraudulent stocks and bonds around the world and deep into the corridors of power in Washington, DC, and Rome. This “explosive” Edgar Award winner has “all the ingredients of a thriller” (San Francisco Chronicle).

True Crime Writers Anthology, Volume One PDF Author: Steve Jackson
Publisher: WildBlue Press
ISBN: 1952225450
Category : True Crime

Pages : 972

Book Description
Three gripping true crime classics in one volume, from the New York Times–bestselling author. From the acclaimed journalist and author, three chilling tales of depravity, death, and detective work including: NO ANGELS Late one night in 1997, fourteen-year-old Brandy DuVall waited at a bus stop in the Denver area when, for reasons that are still a mystery, she got into a car with several young men. The consequence was an unimaginable nightmare of torture, rape, and murder at the hands of a vicious Denver street gang. The crime, investigation, and subsequent court cases—including four murder trials and two death penalty hearings—tore apart families, and affected all who were caught up in the brutal crime and its aftermath. SMOOTH TALKER As seen on Investigation Discovery’s Epic Mysteries series Anita Andrews was found in her own bar, stabbed to death in a bloody frenzy. She'd last been seen alive talking to a customer, a drifter playing cards and flirting with her. A month later, Michele Wallace was driving near Crested Butte, Colorado, when she gave two stranded motorists a ride. She was never seen alive again. Fourteen years later, Charlotte Sauerwin, engaged to be married, met a smooth-talking man at a Laundromat in Livingston Parish, Louisiana. The next evening, her body was found in the woods. The three murders would remain unsolved until a rookie Gunnison County sheriff’s investigator named Kathy Young began investigating . . . ROUGH TRADE On a morning in May 1997, a couple on their way to work spotted a man dragging a woman’s body up a trail. The subsequent investigation into the death of young streetwalker Anita Paley would lead from that idyllic spot to the seamy underbelly of Denver and a world of prostitution, drug dealers, and violent criminals. This is the story of two people from that world whose paths crossed first on the streets and then at a murder trial: Robert Riggan, a violent sexual predator, and Joanne Cordova, a former cop-turned-prostitute, who risked her life to testify.

Book Description
History shows us that men are most likely to commit heinous crimes but women are no strangers to violence either. Yes, they do not kill frequently and female killers do not engage in killing sprees so often. Instead, their crimes are driven by passion and sometimes even obsession with another person. They are not prone to selecting a random victim but would turn on their partners, friends, or family. Women are usually not killing for the thrill but they do so for their own personal gain, even if it seems illogical to a bystander. So as you may already know, whenever a body turns up somewhere, the police would immediately question the closest family members. Crystal Mae Wagner's case is intriguing because she managed to include a third man into the whole narrative and make him do the dirty job for her. The overly brutal killing and the disposal of the body shocked the Bibb County in Georgia. Luckily, Crystal Mae Wagner's body count didn't escalate and she was caught in time. But the trial and the analysis of her psychological profile intrigued everyone who was involved in this case. What makes a loving mother turn on her husband? And was there something that pushed her over the edge to seek help from her lover in order to do this gruesome murder? Let's dive in deeper into this case and discover more details about Crystal Mae Wagner and her life.

When Women Attack

When Women Attack PDF Author: Robert Ponce

Book Description
A True Crime ANTHOLOGY detailing the attacks of women on their husbands, boyfriends and strangers...all of which led to their deaths. MICHELLE REYNOLDSThe city of Rome, Georgia, nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains and occupying the administrative center of Floyd County, is not known for its production of nation-wide news. Indeed, to the outside observer, the city (home to 36,000) would likely appear as nondescript as any mid-sized, somewhat detached American city would be. As the nation would discover in mid-2004, however; even places like Rome can produce a scene of such horror as to grip a country by the hair, gluing its citizens to their TV screens. On the morning of July 5, 2004, an employee of Rome's Frito-Lay distribution center was pulling into work when he noticed a man standing by the doorway. The employee initially thought nothing of the stranger, since workers commonly arrived at the center during dawn hours. After a moment, however, it became clear that the man standing by the doorway was visibly nervous, and he made a hasty exit. Naturally, the witness entered the building to see what the stranger had been up to. What he found was the body of Thad John Glenn Reynolds, 36 years old. He was stabbed a total of 19 times and was left for dead.BROOKEY LEE WESTOne of the most gruesome and bizarre crimes that ever occurred in Las Vegas was discovered on February 5, 2001. The manager of Canyon Gate Mini Storage, Bill Unruh, opened Unit #317 after someone reported a very bad smell. He found a 45-gallon garbage container that had a brownish liquid oozing out of it at the bottom. He called police. Detectives entered a unit that contained normal items on one side and the oozing sealed-up garbage container on the other side. There were also books about witchcraft and Satanism in the locker. Unruh told police that the unit had been rented in the names of Brookey Lee West and Christine Smith on June 26, 1998. The garbage container had been made airtight with duct tape, packing tape, plastic wrap, and garbage bags. The leakage was coming from a hole that had developed in the bottom. When investigators cut the container open, more fluid seeped out accompanied by dead maggots. They could see a human body inside, very decomposed. The body was mostly liquefied, but those on scene could easily see that a white plastic bag was tied around the person's face. Crime scene analysts tested the brownish liquid for human blood and the test was positive. In the storage unit, Detective David Mesinar found Christine Smith's wallet, ID, prescriptions, and documents relating to her Social Security payments. Dental records confirmed that the body was Christine's. Christine would have been 68 years old if she was still alive. Detectives began by looking for Christine's daughter, 46-year-old Brookey Lee West.KRISTINA FETTERSKristina Fetters was the youngest woman in the state of Iowa to get sentenced to life in prison without parole after she murdered her great-aunt. But eighteen years later she would be re-sentenced after the Supreme Court ruled that mandatory life sentences for minors was unconstitutional. Kristina would later be released to a hospice center as she developed breast cancer in prison. But what happened that fateful night of October 25th, 1994? Kristina was only fourteen years old, five-feet tall and barely one hundred pounds. Yet she committed one of the most brutal assaults in the history of her Iowa town. This is what transpired in her life before and after she committed a brutal murder of her loving aunt.BRITTANY HOLBERGBrittany Holberg was a twenty-three years old prostitute when she was convicted of murdering 80-year-old A.B. Towery Jr, stabbing him over sixty times.
