With the Mikado's empire. Under President Taft, in 1912, the noble precedent Of honoring Asiatic as well as European nations in their bereavement, by sending a special envoy in high Office to attend the emperor's funeral Obsequies, has been inaugurated. With the de cease of Mutsuhito the Great, the glorious era Of Meiji, or Enlight ened Government, ceases, and that Of Taisei, or Great Righteousness, under Yoshihito, the 124th Mikado, begins. In an added chapter in this twelfth edition I have noted not only a few of the great facts and events since 1906, but have also given the philosophy and in terpretation of them.
