Medienbefunde

Medienbefunde PDF Author: Kathrin Friedrich
Publisher: Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG
ISBN: 3110560062
Category : Art
Languages : de
Pages : 168

Book Description

Quantitative Coronary Arteriography

Quantitative Coronary Arteriography PDF Author: Johan H. C. Reiber
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401137269
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 388

Book Description
In June 1989, a third conference concentrating on the progress in quantita tive coronary angiography and related techniques was held in Rotterdam, again very successful as the two preceding events in 1985 and 1987. Tech nical as well as clinical aspects of digital and digitized coronarography, morphometry, parametric imaging and functional quantification of the human coronary circulation were presented and discussed by prominent exponents of those groups who have been active in this particular field for many years. This book contains the chapters representing the lectures held by leading experts during the symposium that update the knowledge currently available, including most recent aspects in angioscopy and intravascular ultrasound imaging. It also includes a historical review on the development of angiogra phic techniques from the very early days on to our times given by one of the pioneers in heart catheterization and angiography, Dr. Kurt Amplatz. Those who had the chance to listen to his talk, will surely remember his impressive, humorous lecture as one of the highlights of this meeting.

A General PACS-RIS Interface

A General PACS-RIS Interface PDF Author: Otto Rienhoff
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642483585
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 97

Book Description
Medical information systems such as Radiology Management Information Systems (RIS), Picture Archiving and Communications (PACS) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS) will soon be standard tools to support routine work in hospitals. An interface between PACS/RIS and RIS/HIS is increasingly necessary in order to co-ordinate the flow of information throughout these systems. This book discusses a systematic analysis of interfacing strategies. An introduction is given to the status of present radiology departments and trends for the future. Then, to define a PACS-RIS interface in a multivendor environment, the so-called Marburg Model is described: a comprehensive systems analysis method that includes the requirements of radiologists, software and hardware engineers, and medical informatitians. A detailed PACS-RIS interface for a specific systems implementation is derived using the Marburg Model, which can be used as a standardized approach to designing interfaces.

Modern Methods in Neurosurgery

Modern Methods in Neurosurgery PDF Author: Wendelin Walter
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642732941
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 303

Book Description
This 16th volume of Advances in Neurosurgery contains a selection of pa pers presented at the 38th Annual Meeting of the German Society of Neurosurgery, held in Munster on 3-6 May 1987. The program committee had to choose these contributions from a total of 161 presentations. I am very much obliged to the members of the committee who contributed their experience and effort to the organization of the scientific pro gram: Prof. Dr. R.A. Frowein, Prof. Dr. W.J. Bock, Prof. Dr. E. Kazner, Prof. Dr. G. Lausberg, Prof. Dr. M. Klinger, and Prof. Dr. M. Brandt. The aim of the Meeting was to exchange experiences regarding modern diagnostic and therapeutic achievements. The first main topic was new technical methods in neurosurgery. Refinements in laser technology were introduced; different laser devices have been recognized as use ful tools in microsurgery and some peripheral nerve problems. The Ca vitron ultrasonic aspirator has proven its value in a great variety of intracranial and spinal tumors within a few years. Its technical advance is impressively demonstrated by some of the papers in this book. With growing experience we have recognized the great value of these additional instruments in limited surgical fields and learned not to overestimate them in the hands of a skilled neurosurgeon.

Tissue Characterization in MR Imaging

Tissue Characterization in MR Imaging PDF Author: H. Peter Higer
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642749933
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 340

Book Description
H.P. HIGER 1 In the seventeenth century people dreamed about a machine to get rid of evil spirits and obsessions, which were thought to be the main source of mis fortune and disease. I am not going to question this approach, because in a way it sounds reasonable. They dreamed of a machine that would display im ages from the inner world of men which could be easily identified and named. Somehow these are the roots of MR imaging. Of course, we now view disease from a different point of view but our objectives remain the same, namely to make diseases visible and to try to characterize them in order to cure them. This was the reason for setting up a symposium on tissue characterization. About 300 years later the clinical introduction of MRI has great potential for making this dream come true, and I hope that this symposium has con stituted another step toward its realization. When Damadian published his article in 1971 about differences in T1 relaxation times between healthy and pathological tissues, this was a milestone in tissue characterization. His results initiated intensive research in to MR imaging and tissue parameters. Actually his encouraging discovery was not only the first but also the last for a long time in the field of MR tissue characterization.

Book Description
This long-established and well-received monograph offers an integral view of image processing - from image acquisition to the extraction of the data of interest – written by a physical scientists for other scientists. Supplements discussion of the general concepts is supplemented with examples from applications on PC-based image processing systems and ready-to-use implementations of important algorithms. Completely revised and extended, the most notable extensions being a detailed discussion on random variables and fields, 3-D imaging techniques and a unified approach to regularized parameter estimation.

Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Tomography of Intracranial Tumors

Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Tomography of Intracranial Tumors PDF Author: C. Claussen
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642743110
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 685

Book Description
This book represents the second, fully revised edition of the original volume published in 1982. Experience in neuroradiology has confirmed the outstanding value of computed tomography (CT) for the diagnosis of space-occupying lesions within the skull and orbit. It might be assumed, then, that the second edition of this book would simply represent a numerically expanded continua tion of the popular first edition. That is not the case, however. Advances in imaging techniques have promp ted the creation of a new book whose expanded title reflects its more comprehen sive nature. The added illustrations, the revised text, and the expanded circle of editors and contributors document this. Since publication of the first edition, a new modality, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), has become an established neuroradiologic study. We felt it was essential to include this new modality in our book and explore its capabilities as an adjunct or alternative to CT scanning. Because of the high acquisition costs of MRI and the still small number of MR units currently in operation, we have relied in part on images furnished by other institutions and private practitioners, to whom we are indebted. Many problems relating to MR, both in terms of equipment and image interpretation, have yet to be resolved. There is no denying that we still have much to learn.
