Filling Execution Gaps PDF Author: Todd C. Williams

Book Description
“I expected good, but this is great.” -Janet Pirus Phelps, Principle, Strategic CFO, Former CFO Papa Murphy's Pizza Gaps . . . holes in your organization where tasks fall and failure breeds. They inhibit your ability to implement strategic plans, lead people, and run successful projects. Daily, executives, middle managers, and project managers wrestle with “the big six”: Absence of common understanding Disengaged executive sponsors Misalignment with goals Poor change management Ineffective governance Lackluster leadership Ignoring any of these gaps will hex any strategy or project. They regularly destroy hundreds of companies’ ability to turn their corporate vision into business value—taking careers with them. Filling Execution Gaps addresses the sources of these gaps, and how to fill them. Without any one of these important functions, projects fail. Without change management, adoption suffers. Without common understanding, there is confusion. Without goals, business units, and capabilities aligned, execution falters. Without executive sponsorship, decisions languish. Too little governance allows bad things to happen, while too much governance creates overburdening bureaucracy. Without leadership at all levels of the organization, people are directionless. Using decades of experience, years of research, and interviews with hundreds of business leaders, Todd Williams illustrates how to fill these gaps, meet corporate goals, and increase value. How Do I Do That In Photoshop? (2nd Edition)

How Do I Do That In Photoshop? (2nd Edition) PDF Author: Scott Kelby
Publisher: Rocky Nook, Inc.
ISBN: 1681989271
Category : Photography
Languages : en
Pages : 302

Book Description
The simplest, easiest, and quickest ways to learn over 250 Photoshop tips, tricks, and techniques! Scott Kelby, the world’s #1 best-selling photography technique books author, is back with a totally updated and revised new edition of his bestselling book How Do I Do That In Photoshop? This book presents an entirely new concept in Photoshop books—one that’s designed from the ground up to get you straight to whatever it is you need to do in Photoshop right now, get your answer fast, and get you back to editing your images in Photoshop. Photoshop has so much depth and so many features, tools, and filters that sometimes the things you need are…well…kinda hidden or not really obvious. In fact, there will probably be a lot of times when you need to get something done in Photoshop, and you know Photoshop can do it (because Photoshop can literally do just about anything), but you have no idea where Adobe hid that feature, or what the “secret handshake” or shortcut is to do that thing you need to do right now. That’s why this book was created: to quickly get you to the technique, the shortcut, the setting, or exactly the right thing, so you can do what you need to do right now.

Here’s how it works: When you need to know how to do a particular thing, you turn to the chapter where it would be found (Layers, Printing, Masking, Special Effects, etc.), find the thing you need to do (it’s easy; each page covers just one single topic), and Scott tells you exactly how to do it just like he was sitting there beside you, using the same casual style as if he were telling a friend. That way, you get back to editing your images fast. This isn’t a book of theory, full of confusing jargon and detailed multistep concepts. This is a book on which button to click, which setting to use, and exactly how and when to use it, so you’re never “stuck” in Photoshop again. This will be your “go-to” book that sits within reach any time you’re working in Photoshop, and you are going to love having this type of help right at your fingertips. TABLE OF CONTENTS Chapter 1: How to Get Around Like a Pro Chapter 2: How to Use Photoshop’s Tools Chapter 3: How to Use Camera Raw Like a Boss Chapter 4: How to Use Camera Raw’s AI-Powered Masking Tools Chapter 5: How to Crop, Resize & Stuff Like That Chapter 6: How to Work with Layers Chapter 7: How to Adjust Your Image Chapter 8: How to Remove, Add & Change Stuff Chapter 9: How to Make Beautiful Prints Chapter 10: How to Do the Most Popular Special Effects Chapter 11: How to Sharpen Your Images Chapter 12: Other Stuff You’ll Want to Know

Framework for Determining Research Gaps During Systematic Review

Framework for Determining Research Gaps During Systematic Review PDF Author: U. S. Department of Health and Human Services
Publisher: Createspace Independent Pub
ISBN: 9781483944296
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 70

Book Description
The identification of gaps from systematic reviews is essential to the practice of ''evidence-based research.'' Health care research should begin and end with a systematic review. A comprehensive and explicit consideration of the existing evidence is necessary for the identification and development of an unanswered and answerable question, for the design of a study most likely to answer that question, and for the interpretation of the results of the study. In a systematic review, the consideration of existing evidence often highlights important areas where deficiencies in information limit our ability to make decisions. We define a research gap as a topic or area for which missing or inadequate information limits the ability of reviewers to reach a conclusion for a given question. A research gap may be further developed, such as through stakeholder engagement in prioritization, into research needs. Research needs are those areas where the gaps in the evidence limit decision making by patients, clinicians, and policy makers. A research gap may not be a research need if filling the gap would not be of use to stakeholders that make decisions in health care. The clear and explicit identification of research gaps is a necessary step in developing a research agenda. Evidence reports produced by Evidence-based Practice Centers (EPCs) have always included a future research section. However, in contrast to the explicit and transparent steps taken in the completion of a systematic review, there has not been a systematic process for the identification of research gaps. We developed a framework to systematically identify research gaps from systematic reviews. This framework facilitates the classification of where the current evidence falls short and why the evidence falls short. The framework included two elements: (1) the characterization the gaps and (2) the identification and classification of the reason(s) for the research gap. The PICOS structure (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome and Setting) was used in this framework to describe questions or parts of questions inadequately addressed by the evidence synthesized in the systematic review. The issue of timing, sometimes included as PICOTS, was considered separately for Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome. The PICOS elements were the only sort of framework we had identified in an audit of existing methods for the identification of gaps used by EPCs and other related organizations (i.e., health technology assessment organizations). We chose to use this structure as it is one familiar to EPCs, and others, in developing questions. It is not only important to identify research gaps but also to determine how the evidence falls short, in order to maximally inform researchers, policy makers, and funders on the types of questions that need to be addressed and the types of studies needed to address these questions. Thus, the second element of the framework was the classification of the reasons for the existence of a research gap. For each research gap, the reason(s) that most preclude conclusions from being made in the systematic review is chosen by the review team completing the framework. To leverage work already being completed by review teams, we mapped the reasons for research gaps to concepts from commonly used evidence grading systems. Our objective in this project was to complete two types of further evaluation: (1) application of the framework across a larger sample of existing systematic reviews in different topic areas, and (2) implementation of the framework by EPCs. These two objectives were used to evaluate the framework and instructions for usability and to evaluate the application of the framework by others, outside of our EPC, including as part of the process of completing an EPC report. Our overall goal was to produce a revised framework with guidance that could be used by EPCs to explicitly identify research gaps from systematic reviews.

Technical Analysis of Gaps

Technical Analysis of Gaps PDF Author: Julie R. Dahlquist
Publisher: FT Press
ISBN: 0132900432
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 252

Book Description
Gaps have attracted the attention of market technicians from the earliest days of charting. They're not merely conspicuous: they represent price jumps that could signal profitable trading opportunities. Until now, however, "folklore" about gap trading has been common, and tested, research-based knowledge virtually nonexistent. In Technical Analysis of Gaps, renowned technical analysis researchers Julie Dahlquist and Richard Bauer change all that. Drawing on 60 years of comprehensive data, they demonstrate how to sort "strategic" gaps from trivial ones, and successfully trade on gaps identified as significant. Building on work that recently earned them the Market Technicians Association's 2011 Charles H. Dow Award for creativity and innovation in technical analysis, Dahlquist and Bauer offer specific gap-related trading tips for stocks, futures, and options. They consider a wide variety of market conditions, including gap size, volume and previous price movement, illuminating their findings with easy-to-understand diagrams. Coverage includes: understanding what gaps are and how they arise; recognizing windows on candlestick charts; identifying gaps with superior profit potential; combining gaps with other technical techniques for a more complete and effective analysis; and putting it all together with real trading strategies. For stock, commodity, and currency traders in the U.S. and worldwide, and for active individual investors seeking new ways to maximize returns.
