FORMAT II - Second Version of Fortran Matrix Abstraction Technique

FORMAT II - Second Version of Fortran Matrix Abstraction Technique PDF Author: R. C. Morris

ISBN:
Category : Aerodynamic load
Languages : en
Pages : 246

Book Description
A detailed description of the analytical approach, development, and use of a computer program which generates the matrices necessary for analysis of general aircraft structures for internal loads and deflections by the matrix force method is presented. The Force Method Matrix Generator program is designed for use in conjunction with the FORMAT II system as a user-coded subroutine and, as such, will accommodate matrices of the order 2000 X 2000. Up to six degress of freedom may be considered at each joint in the structure which is idealized as an assembly of bar elements capable of resisting axial, bending and torsional forces and rectangular or near-rectangular panel elements resisting shearing forces and which is supported by discrete translational and rotational forces acting at the joints. Applied loading may be any combination of mechanical loads at the joints, thermal loads resulting from bar element elongation due to temperature change, and intial joint displacements. The report includes a detailed description of the computer program operation and coding, and a review of the matrix equations which employ the generated matrices and which are subsequently processed and solved by the FORMAT II system to give internal loads and deflections.

MAGIC

MAGIC PDF Author: Robert H. Mallett
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Computer programming
Languages : en
Pages : 234

Book Description
An automated general purpose system for analysis is presented. This system, identified by the aconym 'MAGIC' for 'Matrix Analysis via Generative and Interpretive Computations, ' provides a flexible framework for implementation of the finite element analysis technology. Powerful capabilities for displacement, stress and stability analyses are included in the subject MAGIC System for structural analysis. The matrix displacement method of analysis based upon finite element idealization is employed throughout. Six versatile finite elements are incorporated in the finite element library. These are: frame, shear panel, triangular cross-section ring, toroidal thin shell ring, quadrilateral thin shell and triangular thin shell elements. These finite element representations include matrices for stiffness, incremental stiffness, perstrain load, thermal load, distributed mechanical load and stress.

Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Airframes
Languages : en
Pages : 924

Book Description
The document is comprised of papers presented at the Air Force Conference on Fatigue of Aircraft Structures and Materials, sponsored by the Air Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory (AFFDL) and the Air Force Materials Laboratory (AFML), Air Force Systems Command. The purpose of the Conference was to discuss technological advancements in fatigue and fracture theory. The Conference was comprised of ten technical sessions (including two panel discussions) entitled 'The Role of Materials in Structures'; 'Fundamentals I + II'; 'Criteria'; 'Fracture I + II'; 'Phenomena I + II'; 'Analysis'; 'Design and Service Experience'. A total of fifty-six technical papers were presented.

An Assessment of Current Capability for Computer Analysis of Shell Structures

An Assessment of Current Capability for Computer Analysis of Shell Structures PDF Author: Richard F. Hartung
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Computer programs
Languages : en
Pages : 246

Book Description
The report contains an assessment of current shell analysis capability. The assessment is based on work conducted at the Lockheed Palo Alto Research Laboratory under contract to the Air Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory. In addition to surveying the open literature, information for the study was gathered during a series of visits made to organizations throughout the United States at which there is an active shell analysis research effort. More than 40 industrial concerns, government agencies and universities have been visited to date. During each visit, technical personnel working in the area of shell analysis were interviewed to determine the scope of their present analysis capability, to learn of current research activities and to discuss computer methods of shell analysis in general. Information so obtained is summarized in a series of briefs which appear in the Appendix of this report.
