Iterated Integrals and Cycles on Algebraic Manifolds

Iterated Integrals and Cycles on Algebraic Manifolds PDF Author: Bruno Harris
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9812562575
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 121

Book Description
This subject has been of great interest both to topologists and tonumber theorists. The first part of this book describes some of thework of Kuo-Tsai Chen on iterated integrals and the fundamental groupof a manifold. The author attempts to make his exposition accessibleto beginning graduate students. He then proceeds to apply Chen''sconstructions to algebraic geometry, showing how this leads to someresults on algebraic cycles and the AbelOCoJacobihomomorphism. Finally, he presents a more general point of viewrelating Chen''s integrals to a generalization of the concept oflinking numbers, and ends up with a new invariant of homology classesin a projective algebraic manifold. The book is based on a coursegiven by the author at the Nankai Institute of Mathematics in the fallof 2001."

The Ubiquitous Heat Kernel

The Ubiquitous Heat Kernel PDF Author: Jay Jorgenson
Publisher: American Mathematical Soc.
ISBN: 0821836986
Category : Geometry, Algebraic
Languages : en
Pages : 410

Book Description
The aim of this volume is to bring together research ideas from various fields of mathematics which utilize the heat kernel or heat kernel techniques in their research. The intention of this collection of papers is to broaden productive communication across mathematical sub-disciplines and to provide a vehicle which would allow experts in one field to initiate research with individuals in another field, as well as to give non-experts a resource which can facilitate expanding theirresearch and connecting with others.

Iterated Integrals and Homotopy Periods

Iterated Integrals and Homotopy Periods PDF Author: Richard Martin Hain
Publisher: American Mathematical Soc.
ISBN: 0821822918
Category : Homotopy theory
Languages : en
Pages : 105

Book Description
Of the various minimal algebraic models of a simply connected space that have been constructed in the last decade, possibly the least understood and the one most suitable for application in geometry is K.-T. Chen's non-commutative algebra model. In this paper we give a complete exposition of Chen's methods and extend these in two directions: we establish a rational version of Chen's theory for simply connected semisimplicial complexes, and we show that the set of primitive elements of Chen's model is a Lie algebra model of the space whose generators correspond to cells in the space that represent non trivial rational homology classes.

Contemporary Trends in Algebraic Geometry and Algebraic Topology

Contemporary Trends in Algebraic Geometry and Algebraic Topology PDF Author: Shiing-Shen Chern
Publisher: World Scientific

Pages : 276

Book Description
The Wei-Liang Chow and Kuo-Tsai Chen Memorial Conference was proposed and held by Prof S S Chern in Nankai Institute of Mathematics. It was devoted to memorializing those two outstanding and original Chinese mathematicians who had made significant contributions to algebraic geometry and algebraic topology, respectively. It also provided a forum for leading mathematicians to expound and discuss their views on new ideas in these fields, as well as trends in 21st Century mathematics. About 100 mathematicians participated in the conference, including Sir Michael Atiyah, Jacob Palis, Phillip Griffiths, David Eisenbud, Philippe Tondeur, Yujiro Kawamata, Tian Gang, etc. This invaluable volume contains the selected papers presented at the conference. The topics include canonical maps of Gorenstein 3-folds, fundamental groups of algebraic curves, Chen's interated integrals, algebraic fiber spaces, and others.

Quantum Probability And Infinite Dimensional Analysis - Proceedings Of The 26th Conference

Quantum Probability And Infinite Dimensional Analysis - Proceedings Of The 26th Conference PDF Author: Luigi Accardi
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814474797
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 392

Book Description
This volume contains the latest results in the fields of quantum probability and infinite dimensional analysis. The contributions range from classical probability, 'pure' functional analysis and foundations of quantum mechanics to applications in mathematical physics, quantum information theory and modern mathematical finance. This diversity illustrates that research in quantum probability and infinite dimensional analysis is very active and strongly involved in modern mathematical developments and applications.
