Each time I picked up the book, it really did feel like self-care to me and made me feel more motivated and seen. Perfect if you want to nourish your own temple and really care for yourself, through reading." - Kendall Hope, Author of Pockets of Lavender "With flowery imagery and a dose of spirituality, Flor's poems provide much-needed comfort in a turbulent world. These pages will gently hold your hand as you discover connection in all its forms." - Marlina Mossberg, Author of Peach "This book was really uplifting and magical. Every page gave me a sense of self-reflection and renewal, and I honestly never knew poetry could resonate with me in terms of self-care (mind, body, and soul, if you will). If your first initial thought of poetry is Edgar Allen Poe-like mine was-then I recommend Flor Ana's work 100%, because she's given poetry a new meaning and this journal-like book of introspection is absolutely powerful." - KaliVictoria, Author of The Shadows of Heaven "This book is a small investment that will change your relationship with yourself. I often take my copy to the beach or park, connected to nature with a blanket and snacks. It's a beautiful book that gives you a dose of inspiration every time you pick it up. I love the space to journal/draw what you feel. The poems are true, real, and speak to everyone's heart and soul." - Katerina Rivera, Co-Founder of Infused Karma Artistry "Flor makes the perfect pairing between poetry and self-care. This collection of poems focuses on enjoying the simple things in life. Reading this collection was a very interactive experience as well as relaxing. The simplistic language and structure of the poems are very well suited to its purpose: to encourage self-care through poetry." - Jenny Ponce, Host of Miami Lit Podcast

Gender Politics in Modern China

Gender Politics in Modern China PDF Author: Tani E. Barlow
Publisher: Duke University Press
ISBN: 9780822313892
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 326

Book Description
Through the lens of modern Chinese literature, Gender Politics in Modern China explores the relationship between gender and modernity, notions of the feminine and masculine, and shifting arguments for gender equality in China. Ranging from interviews with contemporary writers, to historical accounts of gendered writing in Taiwan and semi-colonial China, to close feminist readings of individual authors, these essays confront the degree to which textual stategies construct notions of gender. Among the specific themes discussed are: how femininity is produced in texts by allocating women to domestic space; the extent to which textual production lies at the base of a changing, historically specific code of the feminine; the extent to which women in modern Chinese societies are products of literary canons; the ways in which the historical processes of gendering have operated in Chinese modernity vis à vis modernity in the West; the representation of feminists as avengers and as westernized women; and the meager recognition of feminism as a serious intellectual current and a large body of theory. Originally published as a special issue of Modern Chinese Literature (Spring & Fall 1988), this expanded book represents some of the most compelling new work in post-Mao feminist scholarship and will appeal to all those concerned with understanding a revitalized feminism in the Chinese context. Contributors. Carolyn Brown, Ching-kiu Stephen Chan, Sung-sheng Yvonne Chang, Yu-shih Chen, Rey Chow, Randy Kaplan, Richard King, Wolfgang Kubin, Wendy Larson, Lydia Liu, Seung-Yeun Daisy Ng, Jon Solomon, Meng Yue, Wang Zheng
