Aiming to be more comprehensive than existing books, and to achieve truly international coverage of the field, this book provides key readings and supporting material for students and course convenors. It is divided into four main sections, each of which includes full summaries of each article, further reading suggestions and student questions: • The intelligence cycle • Intelligence, counter-terrorism and security • Ethics, accountability and secrecy • Intelligence and the new warfare This new edition contains essays by leading scholars in the field and will be essential reading for students of intelligence studies, strategic studies, international security and political science in general, and of interest to anyone wishing to understand the current relationship between intelligence and policy-making.

Decision Intelligence Selling

Decision Intelligence Selling PDF Author: Roy Whitten
Publisher: Niche Pressworks
ISBN: 9781952654060
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 180

Book Description
What if selling meant doing the best thing for your prospects-every time? Straight from the work of two expert sales consultants comes "decision intelligence," a genuinely customer-centric approach that turns traditional selling on its head. Ready for bigger deals, flowing pipelines, and higher closing rates? This book is for sales professionals who are tired of the sales target treadmill and disillusioned with the old, manipulative ways of selling. Learning to sell in a new way, however, requires strength stronger than the hardened habits, routines, and mindsets that resist change. This requires a transformative approach-a wholesale shift in the way your people think about selling and the way they actually do it. This genius approach applies the insights of transformative science to expose a root problem in sales: the conviction held by salespeople and clients alike that selling is fundamentally a process of pitching, persuading, and pressuring people to buy. This single conviction initiates a downward spiral that leads to systems of thought and behavior that become dysfunctional and self-limiting for everyone involved. Using real stories from over a decade of field work, the authors put you right into the training room to break through those calcified perspectives in favor of a better way. Follow in the footsteps of thousands of salespeople and executives as you learn to transform your team and develop a consistent selling system. Get to the heart of client-driven sales with an exploration of: -Educating your clients to help them make the right purchasing decision -Aiming your brain to focus on the "why" behind your selling -Mastering your attitude to bring out your best -Generating compelling conversations that lead to real action -Building your sales team into high performers with an effective selling system No hype or hyperbole-just actionable insight from two seasoned executives who believe that selling is the heartbeat of business, and who know that how a company sells will determine its ultimate value to the clients it serves. This is a practical and enjoyable read, with ideas that are both fresh and timeless. Thought-provoking and even eye-popping at times, it will make you proud to be called a salesperson again.

Handbook of Cultural Intelligence

Handbook of Cultural Intelligence PDF Author: Soon Ang
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1317469097
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 494

Book Description
Cultural intelligence is defined as an individual's ability to function effectively in situations characterized by cultural diversity. With contributions from eminent scholars worldwide, the "Handbook of Cultural Intelligence" is a 'state-of-the-science' summary of the body of knowledge about cultural intelligence and its relevance for managing diversity both within and across cultures. Because cultural intelligence capabilities can be enhanced through education and experience, this handbook emphasizes individual capabilities - specific characteristics that allow people to function effectively in culturally diverse settings - rather than the approach used by more traditional books of describing and comparing cultures based on national cultural norms, beliefs, habits, and practices. The Handbook covers conceptional and definitional issues, assessment approaches, and application of cultural intelligence in the domains of international and cross-cultural management as well as management of domestic activity. It is an invaluable resource that will stimulate and guide future research on this important topic and its application across a broad range of disciplines, including management, organizational behavior, industrial and organizational psychology, intercultural communication, and more.

Assessment of the Commercial Applicability of Artificial Intelligence in Electronic Businesses

Assessment of the Commercial Applicability of Artificial Intelligence in Electronic Businesses PDF Author: Thomas Kramer
Publisher: diplom.de
ISBN: 3832453199
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 76

Book Description
Abstract: Artificial intelligence has already been applied to many areas since its official birth in 1956, but most of the applications ended up in great disappointments as the benefits they reaped were very low. Due to this reason the vast interest in applying this relatively young technology to business calmed down in the late seventies when scientists recognized that the current intelligent systems were not yet plug-and-play solutions, hence mature enough to fully meet the business needs and requirements at that time. However, the limited commercial applicability of artificial intelligence in the past has to be rethought today as with the significant progress in artificial intelligence research and the growth of electronic commerce conducted over the World Wide Web new opportunities for business applications of artificial intelligence have emerged consequently. Nowadays horizontal and vertical electronic commerce is significantly driven by intelligent applications. Their employment in electronic businesses may well generate huge returns on investments, providing a technology-based response to increasing competition, the volatility of business models, and the pace of technology change . Despite the wide assumption that artificial intelligence will have a major impact on Internet-related businesses today and especially in the next years to come, it is uncertain to what extent it performs and will perform that way. The purpose of this thesis is to analyse, assess and evaluate the potential of commercial applications of artificial intelligence in electronic businesses. Therefore the main research question of this paper is whether artificial intelligence is reasonably applicable in Internet-related businesses, first in terms of effectiveness and second in terms of efficiency. In the assessment the application of artificial intelligence in electronic businesses is represented by the employment of intelligent agents. In harmony with the major research question emphasized above, the paper provides a thorough discussion about the economic impact of the most common and relevant application types of intelligent agents on electronic commerce environments. In addition the driving underlying technologies of intelligent agents are analysed with respect to artificial intelligence techniques and methods, and current standardisation efforts. [...]

Intelligence Analysis Fundamentals

Intelligence Analysis Fundamentals PDF Author: Godfrey Garner
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1351249347
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 315

Book Description
There are a limited number of intelligence analysis books available on the market. Intelligence Analysis Fundamentals is an introductory, accessible text for college level undergraduate and graduate level courses. While the principles outlined in the book largely follow military intelligence terminology and practice, concepts are presented to correlate with intelligence gathering and analysis performed in law enforcement, homeland security, and corporate and business security roles. Most of the existing texts on intelligence gathering and analysis focus on specific types of intelligence such as ‘target centric’ intelligence, and many of these, detail information from a position of prior knowledge. In other words, they are most valuable to the consumer who has a working-level knowledge of the subject. The book is general enough in nature that a lay student—interested in pursuing a career in intelligence, Homeland Security, or other related areas of law enforcement—will benefit from it. No prior knowledge of intelligence analysis, functions, or operations is assumed. Chapters illustrate methods and techniques that, over the years, have consistently demonstrate results, superior to those achieved with other means. Chapters describe such analytical methods that are most widely used in the intelligence community and serve as recognized standards and benchmarks in the practice of intelligence analysis. All techniques have been selected for inclusion for their specific application to homeland security, criminal investigations, and intelligence operations. Uses numerous hands-on activities—that can easily be modified by instructors to be more or less challenging depending on the course level—to reinforce concepts As current and active members of the intelligence community, the authors draw on their decades of experience in intelligence to offer real-world examples to illustrate concepts All methodologies reflect the latest trends in the intelligence communities assessment, analysis, and reporting processes with all presented being open source, non-classified information As such, the non-sensitive information presented is appropriate—and methods applicable—for use for education and training overseas and internationally Military-style collection and analysis methods are the primary ones presented, but all are directly correlated intelligence to current concepts, functions and practices within Homeland Security and the law communities Covers the counterterrorism environment where joint operations and investigative efforts combine military, private sector, and law enforcement action and information sharing The book will be a welcome addition to the body of literature available and a widely used reference for professionals and students alike.
