Much time and labor have been given to the preparation and printing of reports. The second volume of the final report has progressed with more than its wonted speed, and now the printing has reached as far as page 632, find the county maps for the entire volume have been lithographed. SO far as they were done by Messrs Bien Company, they have also been printed and delivered. Besides the annual report for the year 1886, there have been published three bulletins, themselves being, it is true, portions of the annual report, since they contain reports on work performed in 1886. Excerpt from The Geological and Natural History Survey of Minnesota: The Twenty-First Annual Report, for the Year 1892 All of the field work and part of the laboratory work for the preparation of this article was done while the writer was in the employ of the Geological and Natural History Survey of Min nesota. During the summer of 1891, while studying several granite areas in northeastern Minnesota, several days were de voted to the granite of Kekequabic lake, and again, in the sum mer of 1892, more time was employed in studying the rocks around this lake. Thanks are due to Prof. N. H. Winchell, State Geologist of Minnesota, for assistance and advice during the prosecution of this work, and for his kindness in allowing part of the investigation to be carried on outside of laborato ries of the Survey.
