Tight Junctions

Tight Junctions PDF Author: Marcelino Cereijido
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1420038532
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 792

Book Description
As the first detailed overview of the subject, Tight Junctions brought together diverse perspectives from leading investigators to provide a multidisciplinary overview of the field. Since its publication in 1992, there has been an explosion of information about tight junctions, particularly in the area of molecular structure, cell and molecular biology, genetics and physiology. The field has advanced so fast and so far that it influences many areas of biology and now has practical implications for pharmacology of drug delivery and understanding a wide range of diseases altering epithelial permeability.

An Introduction to Finite Tight Frames

An Introduction to Finite Tight Frames PDF Author: Shayne F. D. Waldron
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 0817648151
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 587

Book Description
This textbook is an introduction to the theory and applications of finite tight frames, an area that has developed rapidly in the last decade. Stimulating much of this growth are the applications of finite frames to diverse fields such as signal processing, quantum information theory, multivariate orthogonal polynomials, and remote sensing. Featuring exercises and MATLAB examples in each chapter, the book is well suited as a textbook for a graduate course or seminar involving finite frames. The self-contained, user-friendly presentation also makes the work useful as a self-study resource or reference for graduate students, instructors, researchers, and practitioners in pure and applied mathematics, engineering, mathematical physics, and signal processing.

Molecular Structure and Function of the Tight Junction

Molecular Structure and Function of the Tight Junction PDF Author: Michael Fromm
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1573317497
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 357

Book Description
Aim of this volume is to clarify the relationship between molecular structure and function of tight junction proteins, as well as their regulation and their role in diseases. Current research may form a basis for future diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to diseases which seem to have not much in common but are characterized by defects of organ barriers, like Crohn's disease, renal hypertension, inner ear deafness, and cancerous diseases. Topics include the functions of distinct tight junction proteins as barrier or channel formers for solutes and water, characteristics of the tight junction in inflammatory bowel diseases, posttranslational modifications of tight junction proteins, the relation between renal tight junction proteins and blood pressure control, and the molecular structure of claudin-claudin interactions NOTE: Annals volumes are available for sale as individual books or as a journal. Unconventional Tight Reservoir Simulation: Theory, Technology and Practice

Unconventional Tight Reservoir Simulation: Theory, Technology and Practice PDF Author: Qiquan Ran
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 9813298480
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 411

Book Description
This book systematically introduces readers to the simulation theory and techniques of multiple media for unconventional tight reservoirs. It summarizes the macro/microscopic heterogeneities; the features of multiscale multiple media; the characteristics of complex fluid properties; the occurrence state of continental tight oil and gas reservoirs in China; and the complex flow characteristics and coupled production mechanism under unconventional development patterns. It also discusses the simulation theory of multiple media for unconventional tight oil and gas reservoirs; mathematic model of flow through discontinuous multiple media; geological modeling of discrete multiscale multiple media; and the simulation of multiscale, multiphase flow regimes and multiple media. In addition to the practical application of simulation and software for unconventional tight oil and gas, it also explores the development trends and prospects of simulation technology. The book is of interest to scientific researchers and technicians engaged in the development of oil and gas reservoirs, and serves as a reference resource for advanced graduate students in fields related to petroleum.

The Tight Junction and Its Proteins: More Than Just a Barrier

The Tight Junction and Its Proteins: More Than Just a Barrier PDF Author: Michael Fromm
Publisher: MDPI
ISBN: 3039432249
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 412

Book Description
For a long time, the tight junction (TJ) was known to form and regulate the paracellular barrier between epithelia and endothelial cell sheets. Starting shortly after the discovery of the proteins forming the TJ—mainly the two families of claudins and TAMPs—several other functions have been discovered, a striking one being the surprising finding that some claudins form paracellular channels for small ions and/or water. This Special Issue includes 43 articles covering numerous dedicated topics including pathogens affecting the TJ barrier, TJ regulation via immune cells, the TJ as a therapeutic target, TJ and cell polarity, function and regulation by proteins of the tricellular TJ, TJ as a regulator of cellular processes, organ- and tissue-specific functions, TJ as sensors and reacting to environmental conditions, and last but not least, TJ proteins and cancer.

Sedimentary Facies Reconstruction and Kinematic Restoration of Tight Gas Fields

Sedimentary Facies Reconstruction and Kinematic Restoration of Tight Gas Fields PDF Author: Anna Alexandra Vackiner
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642360475
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 123

Book Description
The thesis of Anna Alexandra Vackiner focuses on the geometric architecture and tectonic evolution of the Permian series, combining seismic interpretation (3D block), field studies in an analogue basin (Panamint Valley in California), as well as 2D restoration of representative cross sections through time in order to illustrate the complex interaction between multiphase extension, inversion and salt diapirism. It will be of major interest for exploration geologists involved in tectonically complex areas. - François Roure, August 2012 This thesis improves the understanding and localization of the Upper Rotliegend II tight gas reservoir rock facies. It provides insights into the detailed Upper Rotliegend II palaeo-topography and local tectonically induced sediment thickness changes prior to a multi-phase tectonic overprinting. The research presented in this study further focuses on the tectonically induced synsedimentary facies distribution in transtensional continental settings on the basis of a comparison with a modern field analogue, which enables a detailed analysis of the reservoir rock’s distribution and its properties. The study is rounded off with an analysis of the influence of the multiphase tectonic overprinting on the mature Upper Rotliegend II reservoir rocks.
