Active Spanwise Lift Control

Active Spanwise Lift Control PDF Author: Joaquim Neto Dias
Publisher: American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Incorporated
ISBN: 9781624105999
Category : Airplanes
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
Presents a novel approach to tackle the gust alleviation problem. The authors address the spanwise behaviour of aerodynamic loads, as this is what should be primarily controlled. Because the gust loads are mainly caused by disturbances in the spanwise lift, the aim is at controlling the shape of the lift distribution profile along the span.

Book Description
"This book presents a novel approach to tackle the gust alleviation problem. Traditional approaches typically attempt to suppress the structural response at discrete points of the wing using only the conventional control surfaces (aileron, elevator, rudder), resulting in limited control authority, high-bandwidth actuator requirements, and necessity of gust field measurements ahead of the aircraft. In this book, the authors directly address the spanwise behavior of aerodynamic loads, as this is what should be primarily controlled"--

Fundamentals of High Lift for Future Civil Aircraft

Fundamentals of High Lift for Future Civil Aircraft PDF Author: Rolf Radespiel
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030524299
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 634

Book Description
This book reports on the latest numerical and experimental findings in the field of high-lift technologies. It covers interdisciplinary research subjects relating to scientific computing, aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, material sciences, aircraft structures, and flight mechanics. The respective chapters are based on papers presented at the Final Symposium of the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 880, which was held on December 17-18, 2019 in Braunschweig, Germany. The conference and the research presented here were partly supported by the CRC 880 on “Fundamentals of High Lift for Future Civil Aircraft,” funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation). The papers offer timely insights into high-lift technologies for short take-off and landing aircraft, with a special focus on aeroacoustics, efficient high-lift, flight dynamics, and aircraft design.

Active Flow Control II

Active Flow Control II PDF Author: Rudibert King
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 364211735X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 480

Book Description
The interest in the field of active flow control (AFC) is steadily increasing. In - cent years the number of conferences and special sessions devoted to AFC org- ized by various institutions around the world continuously rises. New advanced courses for AFC are offered by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Ast- nautics (AIAA), the European Research Community on Flow, Turbulence and Combustion (ERCOFTAC), the International Centre for Mechanical Sciences (CISM), the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics (VKI), to name just a few. New books on AFC are published by prominent colleagues of our field and even a new periodical, the ‘International Journal of Flow Control’, appeared. Despite these many activities in AFC it was felt that a follow-up of the highly successful ‘ACTIVE FLOW CONTROL’ Conference held in Berlin in 2006 was appropriate. As in 2006, ‘ACTIVE FLOW CONTROL II’ consisted only of invited lectures. To sti- late multidisciplinary discussions between experimental, theoretical and numerical fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, turbomachinary, mathematics, control engineering, metrology and computer science parallel sessions were excluded. Unfortunately, not all of the presented papers made it into this volume. As the preparation and printing of a book takes time and as this volume should be available at the conf- ence, the Local Organizing Committee had to set up a very ambitious time sch- ule which could not be met by all contributors.
