This two-volume set on Mathematical Principles of the Internet provides a comprehensive overview of the mathematical principles of Internet engineering. The books do not aim to provide all of the mathematical foundations upon which the Internet is based. Instead, these cover only a partial panorama and the key principles. Volume 1 explores Internet engineering, while the supporting mathematics is covered in Volume 2. The chapters on mathematics complement those on the engineering episodes, and an effort has been made to make this work succinct, yet self-contained. Elements of information theory, algebraic coding theory, cryptography, Internet traffic, dynamics and control of Internet congestion, and queueing theory are discussed. In addition, stochastic networks, graph-theoretic algorithms, application of game theory to the Internet, Internet economics, data mining and knowledge discovery, and quantum computation, communication, and cryptography are also discussed. In order to study the structure and function of the Internet, only a basic knowledge of number theory, abstract algebra, matrices and determinants, graph theory, geometry, analysis, optimization theory, probability theory, and stochastic processes, is required. These mathematical disciplines are defined and developed in the books to the extent that is needed to develop and justify their application to Internet engineering.

Welcome to the proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Algorithms and Architectures for Parallel Processing (ICA3PP 2008). ICA3PP 2008 consist of two keynote addresses, seven technical sessions, and one tutorial. Included in these proceedings are papers whose authors are from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Cyprus, France, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Germany, Greece, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tunisia, UAE, UK, and USA. Each paper was rigorously reviewed by at least three Program Committee members and/or external revi- ers, and the acceptance ratio is 35%. These papers were presented over seven technical sessions. Based on the paper review results, three papers were selected as the best papers. We would like to thank the many people who helped make this conference a successful event. More than any other area of regulation, antitrust economics shapes law and policy in the United States, the Americas, Europe, and Asia. In a number of different areas of antitrust, advances in theory and empirical work have caused a fundamental reevaluation and shift of some of the assumptions behind antitrust policy. This reevaluation has profound implications for the future of the field. The Oxford Handbook of International Antitrust Economics has collected chapters from many of the leading figures in antitrust. In doing so, this two volume Handbook provides an important reference guide for scholars, teachers, and practitioners. However, it is more than a merely reference guide. Rather, it has a number of different goals. First, it takes stock of the current state of scholarship across a number of different antitrust topics. In doing so, it relies primarily upon the economics scholarship. In some situations, though, there is also coverage of legal scholarship, case law developments, and legal policies.
