Book Description
I hear “look at me Daddy” at least a million times a day from my daughter. It is very important to her that I am watching when she is doing something. It doesn’t matter what it is. One day, an overwhelming thought popped into my mind while watching my daughter engage in yet another activity that she wanted me to watch her do. The thought was that my daughter did not just crave my attention, she craved my affirmation. She didn’t want me to just SEE what she was doing, she wanted me to SEE her. She wanted me to show her that I was interested in her as a person. The beginning pages of this book are addressed to fathers. I explain, in detail the insight that I received that day watching my daughter. This profound thought led to an extensive search for the true significance of the daddy-daughter relationship. The second part of the book is written in a way that not only demonstrates how dads can affirm their daughters with just simple, daily interactions; but allows the book to be used as a tool to interact with their daughters. This book can be read to daughters by dads as a bedtimes story. Besides, reading with our children is as fundamental as affirming them.

Book Description
“Pearl Cleage is a passionate, challenging playwright whose concerns for the species are unmistakable and profound. As a woman, as an African-American, her artistic objectivity and sensitivity to history combine with, but do not overshadow, her capacity to dig for truth and present it flat out as she sees it – with a finger snap or a shout and sometimes with a wink. Among the most satisfying roles I’ve undertaken on stage is surely Miss Leah in Flyin’ West. She brings the bushel nuggets of drama and humor that capture the ear, the heart and the imagination. She’s devilish, too.” –Academy Award® Nominee Ruby Dee “Ms. Cleage writes with amazing grace and killer instinct.” –Alvin Klein, New York Times “Pearl Cleage is a brilliant storyteller. I am always engrossed in the drama and compassion she brings to her characters. Flyin’ West, Bourbon at the Border, Blues for an Alabama Sky, Late Bus to Mecca and Chain are marvelous examples of a playwright at the top of her form, bravely moving into the new century.” –Woodie King, Jr., Producing Director, New Federal Theatre Pearl Cleage’s body of work for the stage provides us with a remarkable and penetrating look at the African-American experience over the last 100 years. This volume collects her major full-length plays and one-acts, including Flyin’ West, Blues for an Alabama Sky, Bourbon at the Border, Chain and Late Bus to Mecca. PEARL CLEAGE is an Atlanta-based writer whose recent plays have premiered at The Alliance Theatre Company with subsequent productions throughout the country. Her first novel What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day was a recent Oprah’s Book Club Selection and a national bestseller. She is a former columnist of the Atlanta Tribune and a contributor to Essence Magazine.

Book Description
The right girl. The wrong past. The mystery double life that catches up to her. The special gift that begs for blood... Well, that’s just great. I’ve missed the cut-off to apply for a scholarship, so my folks are freaking out about two things now. As if going to school in another city isn’t bad enough. As if me agreeing to countless asinine things to keep my parents happy isn’t grating on me already. And then I meet Gunner and it all falls apart. He’s the man of my dreams, and yet he’s the man that tears my world apart…but he doesn’t know it. And now I can never see him again. I can never hear his voice again. Most of all, I can never feel my heart beating against his ever again. It didn’t occur to me until it was too late. How right my brothers are, that is. I ran from Clarkstown to Houston to get away. The great escape. Funny how leaving home for all the wrong reasons made everything else look right. Understand that it was just too much. But what I find out in Houston is that Ava’s life pales in comparison. I thought I was doing the right thing. I thought everything would turn out okay. Until she vanishes off the campus floors and I don’t see her again…for another year. And then I find out the truth, and it changes everything forever. Can we ever get back what we had? Book Description
My journey is documented in this two-volume book numbers 14th and 15th of my series “Christianity and the Human Brain”. My journey is a testimony to Lord Jesus who took me by the hand from being a dismal soul to a renown neurosurgeon and anesthesiologist through a dream I had in 1974 with his words: “Son study all these books in my hand and I shall bless you and bless your patients”. Today, 35 years later, I continue to dedicate my life to my Lord, my patients and the residents I mentor. The fulfillment of my joy is when my Almighty helps me to care for my patients and guides my hand in both neurosurgery and the teaching of coming generations. There are many stories and reflections to share with you. Lessons learned in various topics. It is my honor to share with you my journey and my Joy. The two volume books contain 181 chapters, distributed in twenty sections (ten in each volume) covering major highlights in my life journey. In addition to deep reflections from my own life stories in faith and medicine, topics include Jesus, love, patient care, the human brain, neurosurgery, illness, residents, healthcare crises, meditations and memories over four decades. I hope you, the reader, to take the positives of my journey and find it useful to your own journey as a participant sojourning in this world with me. Blessed are those striving early on in their life to serve our Savior Jesus Christ, to him is the glory for ever and ever, Amen.
