Quantum Techniques In Stochastic Mechanics

Quantum Techniques In Stochastic Mechanics PDF Author: Baez John C
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 981322696X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 276

Book Description
We introduce the theory of chemical reaction networks and their relation to stochastic Petri nets — important ways of modeling population biology and many other fields. We explain how techniques from quantum mechanics can be used to study these models. This relies on a profound and still mysterious analogy between quantum theory and probability theory, which we explore in detail. We also give a tour of key results concerning chemical reaction networks and Petri nets. Contents: Stochastic Petri Nets The Rate Equation The Master Equation Probabilities vs Amplitudes Annihilation and Creation Operators An Example from Population Biology Feynman Diagrams The Anderson–Craciun–Kurtz Theorem An Example of the Anderson–Craciun–Kurtz Theorem A Stochastic Version of Noether's Theorem Quantum Mechanics vs Stochastic Mechanics Noether's Theorem: Quantum vs Stochastic Chemistry and the Desargues Graph Graph Laplacians Dirichlet Operators and Electrical Circuits Perron–Frobenius Theory The Deficiency Zero Theorem Example of the Deficiency Zero Theorem Example of the Anderson–Craciun–Kurtz Theorem The Deficiency of a Reaction Network Rewriting the Rate Equation The Rate Equation and Markov Processes Proof of the Deficiency Zero Theorem Noether's Theorem for Dirichlet Operators Computation and Petri Nets Summary Table Readership: Graduate students and researchers in the field of quantum and mathematical physics. Keywords: Stochastic;Quantum;Markov Process;Chemical Reaction Network;Petri NetReview: Key Features: It's a light-hearted introduction to a deep analogy between probability theory and quantum theory It explains how stochastic Petri nets can be used in modeling in biology, chemistry, and many other fields It gives new proofs of some fundamental theorems about chemical reaction networks

Markov Processes and Quantum Theory

Markov Processes and Quantum Theory PDF Author: Masao Nagasawa
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030626881
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 339

Book Description
This book discusses quantum theory as the theory of random (Brownian) motion of small particles (electrons etc.) under external forces. Implying that the Schrödinger equation is a complex-valued evolution equation and the Schrödinger function is a complex-valued evolution function, important applications are given. Readers will learn about new mathematical methods (theory of stochastic processes) in solving problems of quantum phenomena. Readers will also learn how to handle stochastic processes in analyzing physical phenomena.

Stochastic Processes for Physicists

Stochastic Processes for Physicists PDF Author: Kurt Jacobs
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1139486799
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 203

Book Description
Stochastic processes are an essential part of numerous branches of physics, as well as in biology, chemistry, and finance. This textbook provides a solid understanding of stochastic processes and stochastic calculus in physics, without the need for measure theory. In avoiding measure theory, this textbook gives readers the tools necessary to use stochastic methods in research with a minimum of mathematical background. Coverage of the more exotic Levy processes is included, as is a concise account of numerical methods for simulating stochastic systems driven by Gaussian noise. The book concludes with a non-technical introduction to the concepts and jargon of measure-theoretic probability theory. With over 70 exercises, this textbook is an easily accessible introduction to stochastic processes and their applications, as well as methods for numerical simulation, for graduate students and researchers in physics.

Stochastic Processes in Physics and Chemistry

Stochastic Processes in Physics and Chemistry PDF Author: N.G. Van Kampen
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080571387
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 482

Book Description
This new edition of Van Kampen's standard work has been completely revised and updated. Three major changes have also been made. The Langevin equation receives more attention in a separate chapter in which non-Gaussian and colored noise are introduced. Another additional chapter contains old and new material on first-passage times and related subjects which lay the foundation for the chapter on unstable systems. Finally a completely new chapter has been written on the quantum mechanical foundations of noise. The references have also been expanded and updated.

Nonlocal Quantum Field Theory and Stochastic Quantum Mechanics

Nonlocal Quantum Field Theory and Stochastic Quantum Mechanics PDF Author: K.H. Namsrai
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9400945183
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 440

Book Description
over this stochastic space-time leads to the non local fields considered by G. V. Efimov. In other words, stochasticity of space-time (after being averaged on a large scale) as a self-memory makes the theory nonlocal. This allows one to consider in a unified way the effect of stochasticity (or nonlocality) in all physical processes. Moreover, the universal character of this hypothesis of space-time at small distances enables us to re-interpret the dynamics of stochastic particles and to study some important problems of the theory of stochastic processes [such as the relativistic description of diffusion, Feynman type processes, and the problem of the origin of self-turbulence in the motion of free particles within nonlinear (stochastic) mechanics]. In this direction our approach (Part II) may be useful in recent developments of the stochastic interpretation of quantum mechanics and fields due to E. Nelson, D. Kershaw, I. Fenyes, F. Guerra, de la Pena-Auerbach, J. -P. Vigier, M. Davidson, and others. In particular, as shown by N. Cufaro Petroni and J. -P. Vigier, within the discussed approach, a causal action-at-distance interpretation of a series of experiments by A. Aspect and his co-workers indicating a possible non locality property of quantum mechanics, may also be obtained. Aspect's results have recently inspired a great interest in different nonlocal theories and models devoted to an understanding of the implications of this nonlocality. This book consists of two parts.

Quantum Stochastic Processes and Noncommutative Geometry

Quantum Stochastic Processes and Noncommutative Geometry PDF Author: Kalyan B. Sinha
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1139461699
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 301

Book Description
The classical theory of stochastic processes has important applications arising from the need to describe irreversible evolutions in classical mechanics; analogously quantum stochastic processes can be used to model the dynamics of irreversible quantum systems. Noncommutative, i.e. quantum, geometry provides a framework in which quantum stochastic structures can be explored. This book is the first to describe how these two mathematical constructions are related. In particular, key ideas of semigroups and complete positivity are combined to yield quantum dynamical semigroups (QDS). Sinha and Goswami also develop a general theory of Evans-Hudson dilation for both bounded and unbounded coefficients. The unique features of the book, including the interaction of QDS and quantum stochastic calculus with noncommutative geometry and a thorough discussion of this calculus with unbounded coefficients, will make it of interest to graduate students and researchers in functional analysis, probability and mathematical physics.
