Book Description
Excerpt from Synopsis of Current Electrical Literature The principal aim has been to give the headings and names of authors of the most important articles pertaining to electricity published in the English, German and French languages during the past year. Many of those articles have been reprinted in several publications, not infrequently translated, either in full or in abstract it was, therefore, deemed advisable to mention the principal journals which printed or reprinted such papers in order to give those desiring to read the subject matter in detail the opportunity to procure such papers as are easiest obtainable. The brief remarks following the titles are not intended to be so full as to give the reader all the information he may want, concerning the specific article, but they are given Simply to call attention to the line of thought followed by the author, or to give a clue to the method of treatment pursued in order that one may judge whether it is of the character sought for. Cross references have been almost entirely avoided in order not to make the book too voluminous, but great care has been exercised in selecting the headings of the various branches. The book, as a whole, is practically a rearranged and revised reprint of the monthly synopsis which have appeared in elec tric power during the year 1895. Occupational Injuries From Electrical Shock and Arc Flash Events

Occupational Injuries From Electrical Shock and Arc Flash Events PDF Author: Richard B. Campbell
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 1493965085
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 78

Book Description
This brief presents information on occupational injuries from electric shock and arc flash events through a review of literature, electrical incident data, and similar sources. It includes pertinent information such as the nature of the incident, adherence to safety requirements, use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and extent of injury. Chapters address arc flash and shock hazards, and the need for empirical incident data on the actual hazards that may be experienced when equipment faults or adverse electrical events occur. Certain tasks where the risk of an arc flash or shock hazard may be lower, such as normal operation of properly installed and maintained equipment, may not require the use of any special PPE. Some of this risk reduction is based on anecdotal data, and the brief details why future research challenges will need more empirical incident data on the actual hazards and associated injuries that may be experienced when equipment faults or adverse electrical events occur. Designed for professionals and researchers in fire protection engineering, workplace electrical tasks, or workplace safety, this brief offers a thorough overview of the trends in electrical injuries and the costs related to those injuries.
