Uncertain Rule-Based Fuzzy Systems

Uncertain Rule-Based Fuzzy Systems PDF Author: Jerry M. Mendel
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319513702
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 684

Book Description
The second edition of this textbook provides a fully updated approach to fuzzy sets and systems that can model uncertainty — i.e., “type-2” fuzzy sets and systems. The author demonstrates how to overcome the limitations of classical fuzzy sets and systems, enabling a wide range of applications from time-series forecasting to knowledge mining to control. In this new edition, a bottom-up approach is presented that begins by introducing classical (type-1) fuzzy sets and systems, and then explains how they can be modified to handle uncertainty. The author covers fuzzy rule-based systems – from type-1 to interval type-2 to general type-2 – in one volume. For hands-on experience, the book provides information on accessing MatLab and Java software to complement the content. The book features a full suite of classroom material.

Accuracy Improvements in Linguistic Fuzzy Modeling

Accuracy Improvements in Linguistic Fuzzy Modeling PDF Author: Jorge Casillas
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3540370587
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 392

Book Description
Fuzzy modeling usually comes with two contradictory requirements: interpretability, which is the capability to express the real system behavior in a comprehensible way, and accuracy, which is the capability to faithfully represent the real system. In this framework, one of the most important areas is linguistic fuzzy modeling, where the legibility of the obtained model is the main objective. This task is usually developed by means of linguistic (Mamdani) fuzzy rule-based systems. An active research area is oriented towards the use of new techniques and structures to extend the classical, rigid linguistic fuzzy modeling with the main aim of increasing its precision degree. Traditionally, this accuracy improvement has been carried out without considering the corresponding interpretability loss. Currently, new trends have been proposed trying to preserve the linguistic fuzzy model description power during the optimization process. Written by leading experts in the field, this volume collects some representative researcher that pursue this approach.

Advanced Fuzzy Logic Technologies in Industrial Applications

Advanced Fuzzy Logic Technologies in Industrial Applications PDF Author: Ying Bai
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1846284694
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 334

Book Description
This book introduces a dynamic, on-line fuzzy inference system. In this system membership functions and control rules are not determined until the system is applied and each output of its lookup table is calculated based on current inputs. The book describes the real-world uses of new fuzzy techniques to simplify readers’ tuning processes and enhance the performance of their control systems. It further contains application examples.

Fuzzy Logic Type 1 and Type 2 Based on LabVIEWTM FPGA

Fuzzy Logic Type 1 and Type 2 Based on LabVIEWTM FPGA PDF Author: Pedro Ponce-Cruz
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 331926656X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 233

Book Description
This book is a comprehensive introduction to LabVIEW FPGATM, a package allowing the programming of intelligent digital controllers in field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) using graphical code. It shows how both potential difficulties with understanding and programming in VHDL and the consequent difficulty and slowness of implementation can be sidestepped. The text includes a clear theoretical explanation of fuzzy logic (type 1 and type 2) with case studies that implement the theory and systematically demonstrate the implementation process. It goes on to describe basic and advanced levels of programming LabVIEW FPGA and show how implementation of fuzzy-logic control in FPGAs improves system responses. A complete toolkit for implementing fuzzy controllers in LabVIEW FPGA has been developed with the book so that readers can generate new fuzzy controllers and deploy them immediately. Problems and their solutions allow readers to practice the techniques and to absorb the theoretical ideas as they arise. Fuzzy Logic Type 1 and Type 2 Based on LabVIEW FPGATM, helps students studying embedded control systems to design and program those controllers more efficiently and to understand the benefits of using fuzzy logic in doing so. Researchers working with FPGAs find the text useful as an introduction to LabVIEW and as a tool helping them design embedded systems.

Predictive Approaches to Control of Complex Systems

Predictive Approaches to Control of Complex Systems PDF Author: Gorazd Karer
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3642339476
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 261

Book Description
A predictive control algorithm uses a model of the controlled system to predict the system behavior for various input scenarios and determines the most appropriate inputs accordingly. Predictive controllers are suitable for a wide range of systems; therefore, their advantages are especially evident when dealing with relatively complex systems, such as nonlinear, constrained, hybrid, multivariate systems etc. However, designing a predictive control strategy for a complex system is generally a difficult task, because all relevant dynamical phenomena have to be considered. Establishing a suitable model of the system is an essential part of predictive control design. Classic modeling and identification approaches based on linear-systems theory are generally inappropriate for complex systems; hence, models that are able to appropriately consider complex dynamical properties have to be employed in a predictive control algorithm. This book first introduces some modeling frameworks, which can encompass the most frequently encountered complex dynamical phenomena and are practically applicable in the proposed predictive control approaches. Furthermore, unsupervised learning methods that can be used for complex-system identification are treated. Finally, several useful predictive control algorithms for complex systems are proposed and their particular advantages and drawbacks are discussed. The presented modeling, identification and control approaches are complemented by illustrative examples. The book is aimed towards researches and postgraduate students interested in modeling, identification and control, as well as towards control engineers needing practically usable advanced control methods for complex systems.
