In July of 2002, he was appointed to and currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Christian Community Church of God, where his aim is to develop a multi-cultural Church: "Interacting For Fellowship-Mixing To Become One". He aims to "Build Strong Churches by Strengthening Families." Under Dr. Porter's leadership, the church has experienced rapid growth and has become a worldwide ministry. Dr. Porter serves as Regional Overseer for the Southern District Churches of God, Florida-Cocoa Office; and previously as a member of the State Executive Council of Bishops for the Church of God; and as a board member of the International Department of Evangelism for the Church of God International Offices in Cleveland, Tennessee. Additionally, he served as Vice President of the St. Petersburg International Folk Fair Society and Chairman of Pauline Salmon Preparatory School. Dr. Porter is the founder and president of Clive A. Porter Ministries and Lifeline Training Institute with both national and International programs. He is a firm believer in developing leaders in the hopes that they in turn will develop the world. A prolific teacher, preacher and conference speaker, Dr. Porter has impacted lives in Europe, Africa, Canada, the Caribbean and the United States. Today, we are inundated with similar claims—from politicians, diplomats, intellectuals, journalists, athletes, and fans—about the many ways that international sports competitions make the world a better place. Promoters of the Olympic Games and similar global sports events have spent more than a century telling us that these festivals offer a multitude of "goods": that they foster friendship and mutual understanding among peoples and nations, promote peace, combat racism, and spread democracy. In recent years boosters have suggested that sports mega-events can advance environmental protection in a world threatened by climate change, stimulate economic growth and reduce poverty in developing nations, and promote human rights in repressive countries. Argos and the Argolid, first published in 1972, presents a study of the history and achievements of the Argives, who have hitherto been largely neglected: partly because Classical Argos is overshadowed by the legends of an earlier millennium, and partly because many of her monuments and records have been lost. Richard Tomlinson describes the region, and considers the relationship between the Argives who claimed Dorian descent and those whose ancestors were in all probability the inhabitants of the region during the Bronze Age. In particular, he emphasises the Argives’ role as a ‘third force’ in mainland Greek history, where they challenged the supremacy of the Spartans in Peloponnesian affairs.
