Celebrating Women

Celebrating Women PDF Author: Kyabram Town Hall Writers' Group Kyabram
Publisher:
ISBN: 9780645104301
Category :

Book Description
In this book, Kyabram Town Hall Writers' Group has compiled original works by forty-four writers and twelve artists from the local and wider community, who used memory, experience, knowledge and imagination to conjure up ninety ways of Celebrating Women. Both written pieces and art works dip into the range of the human condition from birth to death - love, hate, joy, sorrow, tragedy, success, anger, revenge, despair and depression, courage, strength, humour, gratitude, wonder, mystery, the earthy and the spiritual, inspiration, introspection, grit and duty, choice and change, yesterday, today and tomorrow - and that's only part of what half the world's population is about.Opening up the project beyond the writers' group gave the whole community the chance to exercise its voice in any genre, any theme, provided the focus maintained a substantial reference to any aspect of the female condition. Celebrating Women as a title emerged naturally as the contributions began to trickle in. The stories in prose and verse cut across the spectrum of subject matter and arrived in a variety of styles and writing experience. This was not a competition but rather a chance for anyone to speak up and we wanted to give every contributor the opportunity to be published. The technicalities of wordsmithing were not to stop anyone - such things could be taken care of with a bit of coordination. We aimed and succeeded at ensuring that every writer would be represented in the book at least once and their work makes up Section One. To add interest, the KTH writers teamed their skills with those of the Kyabram Town Hall's resident art exhibitors, Splinter Contemporary Artists Inc. Section Two of the book contains written works by the KTH writers inspired by artworks in the Splinters' Feminart Exhibition. The Splinters' artworks make up Section Three. The result is that Celebrating Women is more than a book - it is a cross-arts collaboration by writers and artists showing the wealth of talent in the community just waiting to be tapped. We trust this book of grassroots experience gives some joy to the reader.

Pages : 315

Book Description
Write and Transform your Reality The mind of a successful writer is a different country. A realm of beauty and terror, a place of creativity and happiness and sadness. Today, we celebrate the lives and work of thousands of such authors, and learn more about these special, immortal minds. 1. They all have the ability to express what they feel like no one else can. Whether a writer uses complex words or simple, everyday phrases, he or she is able to bring the emotions and feelings that are inherent within all of us to being on a page, and this is a very rare trait. 2. They all have strong imaginations. A successful writer is able to paint with words and evoke images of new worlds, universes, and realities. Especially when we have all been stuck at home in the recent past, a good book is a way for our minds to travel across both space and time, and experience worlds that we have never seen and never will see. 3. They can look at life from a different perspective. A million people who are not published authors can look at something, and feel that it is a boring slice of everyday existence, and ignore it. However, a good writer can elevate the mundane to the sublime, and find magic in things that everybody knows about, but that nobody else is able to make special. The puzzles in this book deal with hundreds and hundreds of legendary literary figures; they will also introduce you to some of their most famous works. Some of the writers you will read about are very prominent, and everyone knows them; some are more obscure, and you will be able to use this book partly as a book discovery tool; as a virtual book club or reading list, if you will! By the end, your mind will have had a thorough workout, and you will have discovered a few new intriguing literature creators to check out. Libraries and bookstores - whether online or offline - are slowly opening again. I wish you the best.
