Jesus v. Abortion

Jesus v. Abortion PDF Author: Charles K. Bellinger
Publisher: Wipf and Stock Publishers
ISBN: 1498235050
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 352

Book Description
There are three main positions that people adopt within the abortion debate: pro-life, muddled middle, and pro-choice. Jesus v. Abortion critiques the pro-choice and muddled middle positions, employing several unusual angles: (1) The question "What would Jesus say about abortion if he were here today?" is given very substantial treatment. (2) The abortion debate is usually conducted using moral and metaphysical arguments; this book adds in anthropological insights regarding the function of violence in human culture. (3) Rights language is employed by both sides of the debate, to opposite ends; this book leads the reader to ask deep questions about the concept of "rights." (4) The use of historical analogies in the abortion debate goes both directions, in the sense that both sides accuse the other of being similar to the defenders of slavery; this book contains what is probably the most sophisticated and sustained analysis of the meaning and legitimacy of such analogies. (5) Many important thinkers are brought into this conversation, such as Soren Kierkegaard, Eric Voegelin, Julien Benda, Simone Weil, Kenneth Burke, Richard Weaver, Rene Girard, Philip Rieff, Giorgio Agamben, Chantal Delsol, Paul Kahn, and David Bentley Hart.

The Anvil of Guilt and Shame

The Anvil of Guilt and Shame PDF Author: G. Spencer Schirs
Publisher: Covenant Books, Inc.
ISBN: 1646706676
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 100

Book Description
History will show that one of the greatest lies ever told was that a baby is simply a choice! The second greatest lie ever told is that abortion is exclusively a woman's health issue. Lies are where Satan lives. Every abortion, is a victory for Satan. Every time a man is removed from the decision or refused the opportunity to create a family, it is a victory for Satan, and it brings darkness to the world. The abortion of my child was the worst choice of my life; the guilt and shame of that "choice" has negatively affected every aspect of my life. The weight of that abortion has hung over me like an anvil, crushing my spirit. Just as Satan fears the light of Christ and the truth in Jesus, the "prochoice crowd" fear men of God. Why? Because once a man surrenders to God's will, Satan has no power over them, and those men will lead their families as God intended. If I were wrong, then why is there so much effort to devalue the contributions of men and remove them from the discussion? Men need to realize that they have a voice in the abortion debate and need to be the men God has always intended them to be.

Jesus Was Also Pro-Choice?

Jesus Was Also Pro-Choice? PDF Author: Janus Rasmus
Publisher: CreateSpace
ISBN: 9781517481155
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 96

Book Description
Jesus is portrayed in the Gospels not only as a defender of life but also as one not opposed to limited abortion in the sense that when we are given a choice of selecting only between two evils we must choose the lesser evil. There is evidence in both the Old Testament and the New Testament to provide justification for this view. Often we tend to take the following position of "either . . . or" attributed to Jesus by Matthew: " "He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters" (12:30). On the contrary, the Jesus of the Gospels is rather inclusive, according to Luke and Mark: "He who is not against you is for you" (Luke 9:50; Mark 9:40). That is, the basic pro-choice position is not diametrically opposed to the moderate pro-life position. Therefore, we can claim justifiably to be both pro life and pro choice, which phrases are not necessarily contradictory phrases but only contrary ones. In the words of the eminent scientist Neils Bohr, "Contraries are complementaries" ("Contraria sunt complementaria").

Roe V. Wade: Unraveling the Fabric of America

Roe V. Wade: Unraveling the Fabric of America PDF Author: Philip A. Rafferty
Publisher: Tate Publishing
ISBN: 1622956788
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 238

Book Description
You don't need religion to kill Roe v Wade constitutionally, although some pro-Roe politicians use religion (in reverse) to shield Roe from being killed so. Side A argues that supporting abortion-access contradicts Jesus Christ, the giver of "abundant life". Side B argues that the fetus unquestionably qualifies as a 5th (14th) Amendment person. The two arguments are laid side by side so people will quit confusing them. Since Roe, more than fifty million human fetuses (or for all any person knows really: human beings in their fetal stages) have been launched into eternity by pointy medical instruments. Roe and its progeny say that all of this killing is constitutionally permissible because, in keeping with the English common law, the human fetus or "child unborn" does not qualify as a 5th (14th) Amendment due process clause person. What if the Roe justices got this wrong—for lack of a "working knowledge" of the status of the human fetus (or unborn child) and abortion at the English common law? Philip Rafferty, through a working knowledge of abortion prosecution at the English common law, demonstrates that the Roe justices certainly got this wrong. So forget everything you think you know about the abortion controversy. It's time to know What's Really Going On.

What's Really Going on with Pro-Roe V. Wade Catholic Politicians

What's Really Going on with Pro-Roe V. Wade Catholic Politicians PDF Author: Philip A. Rafferty
Publisher: Tate Publishing
ISBN: 1616636939
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 228

Book Description
No committed Christian would support the proposition that a human being may be killed because he has yet to receive his future state of being (eternal life). Yet, the pro-Roe, Catholic politician supports the position that a human fetus may be killed because it cannot be certainly demonstrated that this fetus has received that state of being which makes him a human being. Suppose the fetus is not yet a human being, and is aborted. Is the pro-Roe, Catholic politician prepared to demonstrate that this fetus does not, hereby, lose his opportunity to receive eternal life? Is not this politician supporting the denial to another what he would not think of denying to himself: eternal life in Jesus Christ? Since Roe, fifty million human fetuses have been launched into eternity by pointy medical instruments. Roe and its progeny say that all of this killing is constitutionally permissible because, in keeping with the English common law, the human fetus does not qualify as a due process clause person. What if the Roe justices got this wrong—for lack of a 'working knowledge' of the status of the human fetus and abortion at the English common law? Philip Rafferty, through a working knowledge of abortion prosecution at the English common law, demonstrates that the Roe justices certainly got this wrong. So forget everything you think you know about the abortion controversy. It's time to knowWhat's Really Going On.The overruling of Roe v Wade is considered a dead issue. Rafferty has risen up this dead issue on Roe's own burial grounds. And he has done so with unparalleled, pointed legal scholarship. Ken R.
