Clinical Seminars and Other Works

Clinical Seminars and Other Works PDF Author: Wilfred R. Bion
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 042991198X
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 327

Book Description
This selection of clinical seminars held by Wilfred Bion in Brasilia (1975) and Sao Paulo (1978) is the nearest we shall ever get to experiencing his application of his theories and views to consulting-room practice. It is also likely to be the only printed record of this area of his work. As those who underwent analysis with Bion will testify, nothing can approach the experience of the thing itself, but, failing that, these seminars may help to fill the gap now that his voice can only be heard through his published writings and lectures.

The Global Clinical Movement PDF Author: Frank S. Bloch
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0199701059
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 428

Book Description
Clinical legal education is playing an increasingly important role in educating lawyers worldwide. In The Global Clinical Movement: Educating Lawyers for Social Justice, editor Frank S. Bloch and contributors describe the central concepts, goals, and methods of clinical legal education from a global perspective, with a particular emphasis on its social justice mission. With chapters written by leading clinical legal educators from every region of the world, The Global Clinical Movement demonstrates how the emerging global clinical movement can advance social justice through legal education. Professor Bloch and the contributors also examine the influence of clinical legal education on the legal academy and the legal profession and chart the global clinical movement's future role in educating lawyers for social justice. The Global Clinical Movement consists of three parts. Part I describes clinical legal education programs from every region of the world and discusses those qualities that are unique to a particular country or region. Part II discusses the various ways that clinical programs and the clinical methodology advance the cause of social justice around the world. Part III analyzes the current state of the global clinical movement and sets out an agenda for the movement to advance social justice through socially relevant legal education.

Education and Training for Clinical Chemistry

Education and Training for Clinical Chemistry PDF Author: M. Rubin
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401161763
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 205

Book Description
While the historic roots of clinical chemistry originate from the chemical sciences the growth of the subject has been dependent upon the poli tical, social, economic and technologic national soil in which it has developed. Thus the present leaders in this field have backgrounds variously in chemistry, medicine, pharmacy or sometimes biology. Today, clinical chemistry has attained stature as a unified independent discipline. It is characterized by active and productive international and national societies; its function codified in the law of many countries; its scientific content the sole subject of international and national journals as well as textbooks and educational programs; and its inter national, regional and national meetings have become focal points for major exchange of scientific, clinical and technical information and exhibition. The positive impact of the discipline upon the delivery of health care has given it a significant position in the economics of public health. As a consequence it has become the most rapidly-growing segment of the industrial and commercial component of health main tenance. These changes have brought the need to define the educational and training processes to prepare future leaders of clinical chemistry. The diverse backgrounds of the present directors of clinical chemicallabora tories has required that the viewpoints of chemists, pharmacists, physicians and biologists be brought into harmony. This has been achieved by the years of discussion, debate and review by colleagues of varied professional backgrounds. This monograph reflects their consensus viewpoint for the practice of clinical chemistry at its most advanced level.

Studying Lacan’s Seminar VII

Studying Lacan’s Seminar VII PDF Author: Carol Owens
Publisher: Taylor & Francis
ISBN: 1000984567
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 213

Book Description
Studying Lacan’s Seminar VII offers a contemporary, critically informed set of analyses of Lacan’s ethics seminar and astute reflections about what Lacan’s ethics offer to the field of psychoanalytic thought today. The volume interrogates the seminar with fresh voices and situated curiosities and perspectives, making for a compellingly exciting range of explorations of the crucial matters related to an ethics of psychoanalysis. The chapters question and tease out the paradoxes Lacan draws attention to in his seminar of 1959–1960, and in addition, they offer radical engagements with the seminar in light of theories of racism, inequality, capitalism, education, and subjectivity. The key elements in Lacan’s seminar are explained, debated, and reconsidered with Antigone, das Ding, and the inevitable “ne céder pas sur son désir ” duly unpacked, examined, and ruminated upon. Studying Lacan’s Seminar VII will be of interest to psychoanalytic scholars and students of Lacanian psychoanalysis, as well as psychoanalytic therapists and analysts. It will also be of interest to scholars and students of politics, philosophy, and studies at the intersections of racism, film, feminism, sociology, gender, and queer theory.
