Book Description
Excerpt from An Earnest Pastorate: Memorials of the Rev. Alexander Leitch, M.A., Minister of the South Church, Stirling On Thursday, 7th November 1822, Dr. Muir writes to his young friend to say that he had the day before proposed in the Presbytery of Glasgow that he should be taken on trial for license; and, as it was necessary that he should be known to at least six ministers within the bounds, he gives him an open letter of introduction, with which to call upon the required number of the brethren. Among the ministers to whom Mr. Leitch was thus commended, and who, no doubt, stood spon sors for him when he was admitted to be a probationer, were, we observe, Dr. Chalmers and the Pastor of Kilsyth.
