Broughton, Bart, published the history of the Lords of the Manors of Delves, near Uttoxeter, Staffordshire and of Doddington, near Nantwich, Cheshire, under the title, "Records of an Old Cheshire Family". This is a photo-reproduction of that title. The author traces the Delves family back to 1281. Sir Thomas Delves, who was born in 1652 was Lord of the Manor of Doddington between 1713 and 1727. His son and heir died before he could inherit so Sir Thomas settled his Estates on his grandson, Brian Broughton on condition of his assuming the surname of Delves and so later generations became the Delves-Broughton Family. The author traces the Broughton family, whose Manor was near Eccleshall in Staffordshire, to 1086.The book is illustrated with many historic black and white photographs. It is indexed.
