It's Silence, Soundly

It's Silence, Soundly PDF Author: John McGreal
Publisher: Troubador Publishing Ltd
ISBN: 1785892231

Pages : 288

Book Description
It’s Silence, Soundly, It’s Nothing, Seriously and It’s Absence, Presently, continue The ‘It’ Series published by Matador since The Book of It (2010). They constitute another stage in an artistic journey exploring the visual and audial dialectic of mark, word and image that began over 25 years ago. In their aesthetic form the books are a decentred trilogy united together in a new concept of The Bibliograph. All three present this new aesthetic object, which transcends the narrow limits of the academic bibliography. The alphabetical works also share a tripartite structure and identical length. The Bibliograph itself is characterised by its strategic place within each book as a whole as well as by the complex variations in meaning of the dominant motifs – nothing/ness, absence and silence – which recur throughout the alphabetical entries that constitute the elements of each text. It’s Nothing, Seriously, for example, addresses the amusing paradox that so much continues to be written today about – nothing! The aleatory character of the entries in the texts encourage the modern reader to reflect on each theme and to read them in a new way. The reader is invited as well to examine their various inter-textual relations across given conventional boundaries in the arts and sciences at several levels of physical, psychical & social reproduction.

Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 328

Book Description
We are brought up in a world where living in fear is both encouraged and accepted. Its normal to feel doubt, to feel guilt, to feel anger, to feel a failure. Its normal to lack enjoyment, self-confidence, and fulfilment. Its normal to live our lives according to what other people want of us, or what we think other people want of us, and to feel that, in a world where we constantly criticise and compare, were simply not good enough. But good enough for what? And in whose view? Its time to turn that thinking around. You are good enough! You were born with confidence and a healthy self-esteem. You were born to smile more. You were born to feel ease, to feel well, and to listen to your heart and your intuition. And you can reconnect with that you. You can live true to yourself, and you can feel contentment, joy, and harmony. You can find peace, acceptance, and inner strength. You are perfect, human, worthy. You are special. You are you, and the world needs you. Free the spirit thats still burning deep inside you, and shine! You are and you can!

Roberts & Zuckerman's Criminal Evidence

Roberts & Zuckerman's Criminal Evidence PDF Author: Paul Roberts
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0192557912
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 1193

Book Description
Roberts and Zuckerman's Criminal Evidence is the eagerly-anticipated third of edition of the market-leading text on criminal evidence, fully revised to take account of developments in legislation, case-law, policy debates, and academic commentary during the decade since the previous edition was published. With an explicit focus on the rules and principles of criminal trial procedure, Roberts and Zuckerman's Criminal Evidence develops a coherent account of evidence law which is doctrinally detailed, securely grounded in a normative theoretical framework, and sensitive to the institutional and socio-legal factors shaping criminal litigation in practice. The book is designed to be accessible to the beginner, informative to the criminal court judge or legal practitioner, and thought-provoking to the advanced student and scholar: a textbook and monograph rolled into one. The book also provides an ideal disciplinary map and work of reference to introduce non-lawyers (including forensic scientists and other expert witnesses) to the foundational assumptions and technical intricacies of criminal trial procedure in England and Wales, and will be an invaluable resource for courts, lawyers and scholars in other jurisdictions seeking comparative insight and understanding of evidentiary regulation in the common law tradition.

Evidence in Context

Evidence in Context PDF Author: Jonathan Doak
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1317815092
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 475

Book Description
Evidence in Context explains the key concepts of evidence law in England and Wales clearly and concisely, set against the backdrop of the broader political and theoretical contexts. The book helps to inform students of the major debates within the field, providing an explanation as to how and why the law has developed as it has. This fourth edition has been revised and expanded to include developments in the law of hearsay evidence as well as recent litigation surrounding witness anonymity orders, bad character and vulnerable witnesses. It also addresses the on-going controversy and debate about the use of expert witnesses. A brand new chapter considers the contentious issue of public interest immunity, and the introductory chapter has been substantially expanded to consider the continuing interplay between the UK courts and the European Court of Human Rights as the role of human rights in evidence becomes increasingly important. Features include: Key learning points to summarise the major principles of evidence law Practical examples to help students understand how the rules are applied in practice Self-test questions to encourage students to reflect on what they have learned A supporting companion website including answers to self-test questions Well-written, clear and with a logical structure throughout, Evidence in Context contains all the information necessary for any undergraduate evidence law module.
