Book Description
During the evolvement of autonomous driving technology, obtaining reliable 3-D environmental information is an indispensable task in approaching safe driving. The operational behavior of automotive radars can be precisely evaluated in a virtual test environment by modeling its surrounding, specifically vulnerable road users (VRUs). Such a realistic model can be generated based on the radar cross section (RCS) and Doppler signatures of a VRU. Therefore, this work proposes a high-resolution RCS measurement technique to determine the relevant scattering points of different VRUs.

Radar System Analysis and Modeling

Radar System Analysis and Modeling PDF Author: David K. Barton
Publisher: Artech House
ISBN: 1580536816
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 566

Book Description
A thorough update to the Artech House classic Modern Radar Systems Analysis, this reference is a comprehensive and cohesive introduction to radar systems design and performance estimation. It offers you the knowledge you need to specify, evaluate, or apply radar technology in civilian or military systems. The book presents accurate detection range equations that let you realistically estimate radar performance in a variety of practical situations. With its clear, easy-to-understand language, you quickly learn the tradeoffs between choice of wavelength and radar performance and see the inherent advantages and limitations associated with each radar band. You find modeling procedures to help you analyze enemy systems or evaluate radar integrated into new weapon systems. The book covers ECM and ECCM for both surveillance and tracking to help you estimate the effects of active and passive ECM, select hardware/software for reconnaissance or jamming, and plan the operation of EW systems. As radar systems evolve, this book provides the equations needed to calculate and evaluate the performance of the latest advances in radar technology.

Thriving on Our Changing Planet: A Decadal Strategy for Earth Observation from Space

Thriving on Our Changing Planet: A Decadal Strategy for Earth Observation from Space PDF Author: National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
Publisher: National Academies Press
ISBN: 0309492432
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 29

Book Description
We live on a dynamic Earth shaped by both natural processes and the impacts of humans on their environment. It is in our collective interest to observe and understand our planet, and to predict future behavior to the extent possible, in order to effectively manage resources, successfully respond to threats from natural and human-induced environmental change, and capitalize on the opportunities â€" social, economic, security, and more â€" that such knowledge can bring. By continuously monitoring and exploring Earth, developing a deep understanding of its evolving behavior, and characterizing the processes that shape and reshape the environment in which we live, we not only advance knowledge and basic discovery about our planet, but we further develop the foundation upon which benefits to society are built. Thriving on Our Changing Planet: A Decadal Strategy for Earth Observation from Space (National Academies Press, 2018) provides detailed guidance on how relevant federal agencies can ensure that the United States receives the maximum benefit from its investments in Earth observations from space, while operating within realistic cost constraints. This short booklet, designed to be accessible to the general public, provides a summary of the key ideas and recommendations from the full decadal survey report.

Radar Micro-Doppler Signatures

Radar Micro-Doppler Signatures PDF Author: Victor C. Chen
Publisher: IET
ISBN: 1849197164
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 407

Book Description
There is a growing interest in how to use radar micro-Doppler signatures in real world applications. This book introduces basic concepts, principles, and theoretical analysis on the micro-Doppler effect in radar and pulls together the latest research on the processing and application of radar micro-Doppler signatures. Its goal is to provide readers with a working knowledge on various applications of radar micro-Doppler signatures. It reviews the current progress, challenges, and perspectives on radar micro-Doppler research and introduces research on bi-static/multi-static micro-Doppler signatures, decomposition of micro-Doppler signatures, through-wall radar micro-Doppler signatures and ultrasound micro-Doppler signature studies. Most chapters deal with applications of radar micro-Doppler signatures, including detection, tracking and discrimination of vehicles and dismounts, identifying human movement based on radar micro-Doppler signatures, detection and tracking small boats in the sea, detection and discrimination complex motion of missile warheads, discrimination of animals and the detection and tracking of birds.
