Book Description
Reported cases of the African Court is a law report containing finalized decisions of the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights since the Court delivered its first judgment in 2009. This report contains the judgments delivered by the Court from its first sitting in 2009 to 2012. The cases have been analyzed to include catchwords that reflect the ratio decidendi of the court and subject matter ruled upon by the Court. These initial cases mainly revolved around the jurisdiction of the Court as the Court tried to streamline its procedure in respect of applications brought against states that have not made the optional declaration accepting the jurisdiction of the Court as stipulated under Article 34(6) of the Protocol of the Court as well as its jurisdiction over non-state entities like the African Union and the Pan African Parliament.
