The Gift of the Heart

The Gift of the Heart PDF Author: James P. Robson

Book Description
"The Gift of the Heart" is a collection of poems, with most written during late 2013 through mid-2014.Each of them resulted from personal thoughts and experiences and from studying God's Word. Before writing down these words, I processed them through my heart to be blessed by the Holy Spirit. With the Holy Spirit dwelling in the human heart, the heart opens up to the truth of being. It takes practice, patience, and faith to hear and understand as the Holy Spirit responds, conveys, and directs the truth through the magic of the heart. My hope is that each reader will use these poems as a guide and a catalyst to gain insight into the power and love of the Holy Spirit, who was sent as a comforter by the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

The Soul That Sins

The Soul That Sins PDF Author: Agbolade O. Olalekan

Book Description
No matter how much effort we invest, sin and its accompanying evil will remain unexplainable. Why? Because of the lies and the deceits. Inherent in sin is the denial of truth. We cover up our unwholesome motives and violent acts against others with a veneer of goodness. We sugarcoat our garbage. Everyone has a stake in hiding the truth of sin. This makes uncovering the mystery of how sin works difficult, because wherever and whenever we dig, lies rush in to fill the hole. Lying frustrates the process of reasonable conversation and thinking. More than this, sinful activity is at bottom both self-destructive and world-destructive. We are born into the state of sin, even though we do not commit actual sins until after we arrive. But these moderns redefinition do not really erase our problem. Now the question arises again. If I am born into a sinful state, how can I personally be responsible for that state? Why am I in need of salvation?

Fate, Providence and Moral Responsibility in Ancient, Medieval and Early Modern Thought PDF Author: Pieter d’Hoine
Publisher: Leuven University Press
ISBN: 9058679705
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 809

Book Description
Essays on key moments in the intellectual history of the West This book forms a major contribution to the discussion on fate, providence and moral responsibility in Antiquity, the Middle Ages and Early Modern times. Through 37 original papers, renowned scholars from many different countries, as well as a number of young and promising researchers, write the history of the philosophical problems of freedom and determinism since its origins in pre-socratic philosophy up to the seventeenth century. The main focus points are classic Antiquity (Plato and Aristotle), the Neoplatonic synthesis of late Antiquity (Plotinus, Proclus, Simplicius), and thirteenth-century scholasticism (Thomas Aquinas, Henry of Ghent). They do not only represent key moments in the intellectual history of the West, but are also the central figures and periods to which Carlos Steel, the dedicatary of this volume, has devoted his philosophical career.
