Book Description
An Accessible Introduction to the Pentateuch and Why It Matters for the Rest of the Biblical Story When starting a new Bible-reading plan, many readers begin enthusiastically in Genesis but then lose momentum when they encounter the Old Testament laws and genealogies. But the Pentateuch—the first five books of the Bible—has much to offer today's Christian; it is the foundation for understanding the rest of the Bible, pointing forward to the coming Savior, Jesus Christ, in profound ways. In this accessible ebook, Ian J. Vaillancourt offers readers a helpful introduction to the Pentateuch as the essential first act in the Bible's grand story of redemption. The chapters cover the whole of Genesis through Deuteronomy, examining themes such as creation, salvation, genealogies, and biblical covenants. Each chapter concludes with discussion questions, making this ebook a useful resource for individuals or groups who are looking to dive deeper into biblical study. Ideal for the Thoughtful Christian: Written for those looking for tools on how to read the Bible as Christocentric, such as Bible students and laypeople looking to dive deeper into God's word Gospel Oriented: Written in light of gospel fulfillment in Christ and current applications for the church For Individual or Group Study: Each chapter ends in discussion questions, perfect for individuals or groups who are looking to dive deeper into biblical study

Keithe, on the other hand, is recently divorced and ready to move on. He hasn't given up on love; he still believes he'll find a soul mate. When he starts pushing hard to get to know Kenya better, she feels the connection and panics. The only way she knows to distance herself is to start dating his friend. Keithe is puzzled. Why would she choose his friend, whose issues make him far from the most eligible bachelor? When Keithe learns the truth about her past, will he still want to hold on and work toward a future together? Redeemed is about having the strength to accept people right where they are.

Languages : en
Pages : 98

Book Description
Advent is for adoring Jesus. The Christmas season is one of the busiest times of year. But it’s also a season of reflection and preparation for that special day when we mark Immanuel’s coming—the arrival of our eternal God in our own frail humanity. This is the greatest of history’s many wonders, something too stupendous to celebrate just on one day. Advent is a way of lengthening and intensifying the joy of Christmas. These 25 brief devotional readings from John Piper begin on December 1 and carry us to Christmas Day. Our hope is that God would use these meditations to deepen and sweeten your adoration of Jesus and help you keep him at the center of your Christmas season.

Book Description
It is a horror story. It takes place in a town in Idaho called Evansville. In 1869, during the last vestiges of slavery, the slaves having been emancipated had angered many former slaveholders. Some though angry acquiesced to the proclamation and some were bitter that their way of life had come to an end. Mr. Hyams, a former slaveholder hires a sorcerer to place a spell on the few remaining slaves who are about to make their exodus from the plantation. The sorcerer, Mr. Windham, chants a strange incantation, some in Greek and some in Latin, and points into the direction of the slaves' quarters. What neither Mr. Hyams nor Mr. Windham knows is that the slaves had left the quarters an hour earlier. Mrs. Hyams entered the quarters to clean up the mess that had been created by the former slaves, in their attempt to leave. The curse falls upon Mrs. Hyams.
