When the Eternal Can Be Met

When the Eternal Can Be Met PDF Author: Corey Latta
Publisher: Wipf and Stock Publishers
ISBN: 1625644213
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 234

Book Description
When the Eternal Can Be Met excavates the philosophy behind the theology of the twentieth century's most prominent Christian writers: C. S. Lewis, T. S. Eliot, and W. H. Auden. These three literary giants converted to Christianity within little more than a decade of one another, and interestingly, all three theological authors turned to the theme of time. All three authors also came to remarkably similar conclusions about time, positing that the temporal present moment allowed one to meet the eternal. Decades before Lewis, Eliot, and Auden sought to creatively construct a fictive or poetic theology of time, the prominent philosopher Henri Bergson wrote about time's power to transform an individual's emotional and spiritual state, a theory well known by Lewis, Eliot, and Auden. When the Eternal Can Be Met argues that one cannot fully understand Lewis, Eliot, and Auden's theology of time without understanding Bergson's theories. From the secular philosophy of Bergson dawned the most important works of literary theology and treatments of time of the twentieth century, and in the Bergson-influenced literary constructs of Lewis, Eliot, and Auden, a common theological articulation sounds out--time present is where humans meet God.

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 The Bachelorette is a show where women choose their husbands. I was told to say what I wanted, but to also say what I meant. But how can you say what you want and mean what you want at the same time. #2 When the limos arrived, I was so excited to meet the men, but I was also extremely nervous. I felt like my heart was in my butt. I was so grateful that I was able to put those feelings into words: It’s okay! It’s all gonna be okay. I felt the same way. #3 I was the lead on the show, and when it came time for me to be the center of the show, the girl in charge of the situation, I did what needed to get done. I said what needed to get said. I smiled when I needed to smile. But my true feelings. The real me. Where was she. #4 I was supposed to say, I can see my husband being in this room, but instead I said, I can see my husband being in this room. I was trying to be safe. I was playing a part in order to please everyone else.

Beyond the Narratives

Beyond the Narratives PDF Author: John Michael Greer
Publisher: Aeon Books
ISBN: 1913504220
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 338

Book Description
Studies on druidry, Jungian psychology, politics, history and the time ahead In 2003 John Michael Greer became the seventh Grand Archdruid of the Ancient Order of Druids in America (AODA), an initiatory organization teaching Celtic nature spirituality which was founded in 1912. The outcome was that his writings began to stray into territory very far from the Hermetic occult philosophy that had been the previous focus of his career. The essays included in this volume chronicle some of the themes he explored as a result: Druidry, Jungian psychology, politics, history, and the shape of the future in a society in decline.

Natural Resources - Technology, Economics & Policy PDF Author: U. Aswathanarayana
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 0415897912
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 514

Book Description
Natural resources management has two principal dimensions : Science-illuminated (earth, space, hydrological, pedological, information, etc. sciences) management of local resources (waters, soils, bioresources, minerals, rocks, sediments, etc.) in an ecologically-sustainable manner, and Value-addition through processing of natural products, through the application of technology is most marked in the case of some mineral products. The wellness of a community is dependent upon the security of food, water, environment and energy. Such a security is best realised through science-illuminated (earth, space, hydrological, pedological, information) management of local resources (waters, soils, bioresources, minerals, rocks, sediments, etc.) in an ecologically-sustainable and people-participatory manner, plus value-addition through processing of natural products. Moreover, the addition of value may increase a community’s wealth by advanced technologies, trading, exchange of knowledge, etc. Moreover, activities, employment and many other things come along with the availability of natural resources, which will require and affect policy. This volume provides guidelines for the implementation of technological, economical and policy advances in dealing with various aspects of natural resources. It is intended for researchers, professionals and students in environmental and earth sciences, mining, geography, sociology, economics and for policy makers and investors searching for potential in the natural resources industry. Ideal for consultation in combination with the editor's related publications Green Energy: Technology, Economics and Policy, Energy Portfolios and Food and Water Security.
