It will be observed that we do not explain the Scriptures in the order of passages altogether. The present volume embraces all the historical parts of Exodus and Numbers, and the cor. Responding portions of Deuteronomy. The laws and ceremonies of these books, and of Leviticus, will be treated of in another volume. By this method, we can give the reader a better view of the Scriptures than we could by a perpetual change from the narrative parts to the legal, and from the latter to the former, as we should be obliged to do, if we discussed passages and subjects as they occur.
