The general aim of these tests is not only to supply useful informa tion for engineers and architects, but also to determine the useful qualities and values for specific purposes of quick-growing woods, thus promoting the practice of conservative forest management, and to determine proper substitutes for material which is more valuable for uses other than those for which it is now employed.
