The apostle Paul provides a down-to-earth approach to heavenly things and helps us overcome negative influences by redirecting our minds to truth, nobility, purity, loveliness, excellence, and praise. The passage of almost two thousand years has made this New Testament Epistle's faith-building messages all the more relevant. Fifty-Two Weeks with God

Fifty-Two Weeks with God PDF Author: Doctor John
Publisher: Balboa Press
ISBN: 1452580979
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 191

Book Description
Fifty-Two Weeks with God is composed of fifty-two meditations on God, God’s creation, and men and women who gave their lives for others. The book begins with New Year, the time we think of what we have done before and repent and resolve to correct ourselves. We sit in awe at God’s magnificent creation and what He has done for us. We meditate on the lives of others who felt the call to follow Christ and care for those in need. We meditate on the innocent children whose characters and beliefs we mold as we care for them by word and deed. We meditate on the spirit of God, the spirit of love and truth. We meditate on God’s promise for us to be with him in the warmth of his love for eternity if we follow His example and teaching. “Whatever is true, whatever is good, whatever is honorable, whatever is of good report. Whatever is lovely, whatever is pure; think on these things (Philippians 4:8).”

Devotional Journal

Devotional Journal PDF Author: Ora-Jean Perry
Publisher: Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
ISBN: 1644583712
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 113

Book Description
Nothing warms the heart more than spending time in God's word. We need that communication with him to teach us and guide us through the struggles that come our way. However, our time reading the Bible is more than that. Constant conversations with our Heavenly Father bring us into an intimate relationship with him. He speaks to us through the words we read. We speak to him through prayer. The two combined together can cure the lonely heart. We are never alone. He is always with us, waiting to share his thoughts and encourage us. There are no dates in this journal. It can be started any time of the year and on any day of the week. It's designed for one day a week but could be used for a fifty-two-day study, if preferred. After studying the scripture references and commentaries, the blank spaces can be used to comment on what you've read, for prayer requests, for listing goals for the following week, or for listing blessings and answered prayers from the previous week. However you use it, I hope it draws you closer to God and inspires you to seek his will in all you do.

Congregational Evangelism in Philippians

Congregational Evangelism in Philippians PDF Author: Mark J. Keown
Publisher: Wipf and Stock Publishers
ISBN: 1606084755
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 401

Book Description
Did Paul want his congregations to pick up the ministry of evangelism or did he envisage himself and other 'specialist' proclaimers continuing the ministry of the gospel? Dr. Keown begins by outlining the contours of differing responses to this question ranging from exclusively 'specialist' evangelism to believers' full participation in evangelic mission. He then explores the question through exegetical analysis of Philippians. He argues persuasively that one essential element of the rhetorical appeal of the letter is an injunction to the believers in Philippi to continue to preach the gospel with renewed unity and in the face of pagan opposition. He suggests that Paul envisaged 'specialist proclaimers' leading the evangelical mission and equipping 'general believers' to share the gospel as one dimension of living in the world.
