High-resolution Seismic Exploration

High-resolution Seismic Exploration PDF Author: Qing-Zhong Li
Publisher: SEG Books
ISBN: 1560803495
Category : Seismic prospecting
Languages : en
Pages : 319

Book Description
Capitalizing on knowledge learned over decades and combining underlying theory with practical bases, this book presents a systematic analysis of the issues involved in high-resolution seismic exploration. Translated from the original Chinese edition published in 1993 by Petroleum Industry Press and now updated to reflect contemporary developments, the book is adept at clarifying the objectives and approaches toward better precision in seismic prospecting. It provides innovative views on fundamental concepts including: perspective resolution and perspective S/N; the empirical relationship between compressional velocity (Vp) and absorption coefficient (Q); constructing basin absorption models; understanding sand layer tracking; improving dynamic and static corrections of near-surface effects as well as deconvolution; achieving maximum effective bandwidth of seismic data; and regressive seismic impedance inversion. It is an excellent reference for those involved in seismic prospecting research, data processing, and geologic interpretation, and it is recommended for workers as well as professors and graduate students.

Shallow High-resolution Reflection Seismics

Shallow High-resolution Reflection Seismics PDF Author: Jan Brouwer
Publisher: Pergamon
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 412

Book Description
The book covers all aspects of acquisition, processing and interpretation of shallow reflection seismic data for geotechnical and environmental purposes. Chapter 1 provides a thorough exposition of (i) the mathematical foundations of digital seismics, (ii) the physics of wave propagation in solids, (iii) the mathematical tools for the analysis of wave fields. This theoretical part is based extensively on first principles, thus the book can be used as a stand-alone reference to all aspects of shallow reflection seismics. Chapter 2 describes the field instruments, including the physical principles underlying them and their modern implementation, and the acquisition techniques that allow to obtain the best data under the given technical and operational constraints. Chapters 3-5 describe the processing required to maintain the resolution of seismic data without sacrificing other attributes of the data. The discussion is particularly thorough in where the required techniques go beyond the standard processing steps known from exploration seismics. Chapters 6-10 describe the use of portable vibrators in geotechnical surveying, that was pioneered by the authors and their colleagues. The first four of these chapters, that describe the special techniques required and some of the opportunities offered by the use of these tools, are based on experience with the portable P-vibrator, while chapter 10 was added after the recent introduction of the portable S-vibrator to shallow surveying. All five chapters are accompanied by data from actual surveys. The book closes with six case histories from different settings in Western Europe based on impact sources weight drop and explosives.

Seismic Imaging Methods and Applications for Oil and Gas Exploration

Seismic Imaging Methods and Applications for Oil and Gas Exploration PDF Author: Yasir Bashir
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0323918875
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 310

Book Description
Seismic Imaging Methods and Application for Oil and Gas Exploration connects the legacy of field data processing and imaging with new research methods using diffractions and anisotropy in the field of geophysics. Topics covered include seismic data acquisition, seismic data processing, seismic wave modeling, high-resolution imaging, and anisotropic modeling and imaging. This book is a necessary resource for geophysicist working in the oil and gas and mineral exploration industries, as well as for students and academics in exploration geophysics. Provides detailed methods that are used in the industry, including advice on which methods to use in specific situations Compares classical methods with the latest technologies to improve practice and application in the real world Includes case studies for further explanation of methods described in the book

High Resolution Site Surveys

High Resolution Site Surveys PDF Author: Roger Parkinson
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 9780367866365
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 256

Book Description
High Resolution Site Surveys brings together the full range of site surveying techniques for the first time, to provide a unified approach to marine and land-based resolution surveying. Detailed descriptions are given of digital seismic survey methods, hydrographic 'analogue' search and survey tools, non-seismic survey techniques, and positioning systems, including GPS. 'Brite Spot' analysis, and Health and Safety considerations for site surveys are also discussed. Well-illustrated, and with numerous case studies showing the application of theory in everyday situations, High Resolution Site Surveys is an indispensable guide for the student and practitioner alike.

Oil and Gas Reservoir Prospecting and Exploration

Oil and Gas Reservoir Prospecting and Exploration PDF Author: Vladimir L. Trofimov
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030843890
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 434

Book Description
This book discusses topical issues of detailed seismic data interpretation using high-resolution seismic (HRS) techniques, which are based on the numerical method developed by the authors for solving the inverse dynamic seismic problem (IDSP). The authors highlight the range of issues related to the development and application of HRS-Geo technologies on a variety of seismic data, and analyze a significant amount of practical material in various seismic and geological conditions. This analysis allows for the accurate estimation of geological indicators in sediments that are most important for the prediction and exploration of oil and gas deposits, including lithological composition, reservoir properties, and the nature and degree of reservoir rock saturation with fluids. The book is intended for professionals involved in seismic data processing and geological interpretation, students of geophysical and geological specialties, graduate students of these specializations.
