Overcome Any Obstacle to Creativity

Overcome Any Obstacle to Creativity PDF Author: Tony McCaffrey
Publisher: Rowman & Littlefield
ISBN: 1475834659
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 196

Book Description
The overall purpose of the book is to present (1) the best science on creativity and innovation in the most practical way possible and (2) a new way of teaching called the Nonsense Method, which relies on humans’ incredible ability to create sense out of apparent nonsense and have fun while doing it. The central theory of the book, the Obscure Features Hypothesis for Innovation (OFH), is the first approach to innovation that yields effective counter techniques to all known cognitive obstacles to innovation. The OFH states that any creative solution is built upon at least one commonly overlooked (i.e., obscure) or new feature of the problem. Each chapter ends with puzzles that relate to the cognitive obstacle and counter technique discussed in the chapter. Two hints and a solution for each puzzle are given at the book’s end. The Nonsense Method of Teaching focuses upon universal puzzles that can be adapted to any subject. These universal puzzles situate vocabulary words and ideas from any subject matter in situations that need to be connected and thus made sense of.

Being Creative Inside and Outside the Classroom

Being Creative Inside and Outside the Classroom PDF Author: John Baer
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9460918409
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 169

Book Description
This book has two primary goals - to show teachers how to teach their students to be more creative thinkers and to help them to develop their own creativity as teachers - and it shows teachers how to do these things in ways that don't conflict with skill development and knowledge acquisition. In fact, teachers will learn how to teach for creativity in ways that result in improved skills and greater content knowledge. Teaching for creativity and creative teaching together will result in much higher levels of both student engagement and student learning. The book focuses on three big, well-researched ideas related to creativity training - divergent thinking, intrinsic motivation, and the CPS model of creative problem solving - and shows how to apply these ideas in designing lessons that promote creativity as well as encourage the development of content-based skills and knowledge. The book is written in a way that makes it easy for teachers to make these ideas their own, with many examples for use in K-12 classrooms.

The Logical Thinking Process

The Logical Thinking Process PDF Author: H. William Dettmer
Publisher: Quality Press
ISBN: 0873895894
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 452

Book Description
A major rewrite of Dettmer's classic Goldratt's Theory of Constraints, this new edition presents a whole new approach to building and applying logic trees. The logical thinking process referred to in the title is nothing less than a broadly applicable, systems-level approach to policy analysis. Dettmer has streamlined the process of constructing the logic trees while simultaneously ensuring that the results are more logically sound and closer representations of reality than ever before. He explains an easier, more logically sound way to integrate Current Reality Trees with Evaporating Clouds. His new version of the thinking process "retires" the Transition Tree in favor of the marriage of a more detailed Prerequisite Tree and critical chain project management. This book contains new examples of logic trees from a variety of real-world applications. Most of the diagrams and illustrations are new and improved. Explanations and procedures for constructing the logic trees are considerably simplified.

Bergson’s Philosophy of Self-Overcoming

Bergson’s Philosophy of Self-Overcoming PDF Author: Messay Kebede
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3030154874
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 291

Book Description
This book proposes a new reading of Bergsonism based on the admission that time, conceived as duration, stretches instead of passes. This swelling time is full and so excludes the negative. Yet, swelling requires some resistance, but such that it is more of a stimulant than a contrariety. The notion of élan vital fulfills this requirement: it states the immanence of life to matter, thereby deriving the swelling from an internal effort and allowing its conceptualization as self-overcoming. With self-overcoming as the inner dynamics of reality, Bergson dismisses all forms of dualism and reductionist monism because both the absence of negativity and the swelling nature of time posit a creative process yielding a qualitatively diverse world. This graded oneness is how the lower level activates intensification by turning into limitation, making possible higher levels of achievement, in particular through the union of mind and body and the integration of openness and closed sociability.
