Book Description
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the seminal 1993 quantum teleportation paper, we are pleased to present research works, reviews, and stories about quantum communication, quantum entanglement, and quantum teleportation: * How was quantum teleportation invented? * Which teleportation experiments were performed at the Sapienza University in Rome? * Can we use joint measurements to generate nonclassical correlations? * How is classical sampling related to quantum entanglement? * How is classical communication related to a special quantum ensemble? * How can simplifying a quantum key distribution protocol make it insecure? * Can we teleport a two-qubit quantum state using a nonsymmetric channel? This book includes submissions by some of the most prominent quantum teleportation contributors, including Gilles Brassard, Francesco De Martini, Nicolas Gisin, and William K. Wootters, as well as additional researchers, all presenting their up-to-date insights regarding quantum communication.

Quantum Chance

Quantum Chance PDF Author: Nicolas Gisin
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319054732
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 122

Book Description
Quantum physics, which offers an explanation of the world on the smallest scale, has fundamental implications that pose a serious challenge to ordinary logic. Particularly counterintuitive is the notion of entanglement, which has been explored for the past 30 years and posits an ubiquitous randomness capable of manifesting itself simultaneously in more than one place. This amazing 'non-locality' is more than just an abstract curiosity or paradox: it has entirely down-to-earth applications in cryptography, serving for example to protect financial information; it also has enabled the demonstration of 'quantum teleportation', whose infinite possibilities even science-fiction writers can scarcely imagine. This delightful and concise exposition does not avoid the deep logical difficulties of quantum physics, but gives the reader the insights needed to appreciate them. From 'Bell's Theorem' to experiments in quantum entanglement, the reader will gain a solid understanding of one of the most fascinating areas of contemporary physics.

Book Description
Remarkable recent developments in the field of quantum communications and quantum information processing include the achievement of quantum teleportation, quantum communication channels based on entangled states, and the discovery of quantum computing algorithms. The present book addresses the physical foundations of the subject, as well as the technological problems, discussing such aspects as photonics, quantum imaging, engineered entanglement in atomic and other physical systems, Bose-Einstein condensation, and decoherence. Indispensable reading for graduates and Ph.D. students in departments of physics, electrical and electronic engineering, mathematics, and computer science seeking both an orientation as well as advanced training in the field.

Quantum Communication, Computing, and Measurement 3

Quantum Communication, Computing, and Measurement 3 PDF Author: Paolo Tombesi
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 0306471140

Languages : en
Pages : 472

Book Description
This volume contains contributions based on the lectures delivered and posters presented at the Fifth International Conference on Quantum Communication, Measurement and Computing (QCM&C-Y2K). This Conference is the fifth of a successful series hosted this time in Italy, was held in Capri, 3-7 July, 2000. The conference was attended by more than 200 participants from all over the world. There was also a high level of participation from graduate students, who greatly benefited from the opportunity to attend world-class conferences. The Conference Hall was hosted in La Residenza Hotel in Capri, where part of p- ticipants where housed, while others where housed in various cozy nearby - tels. All enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere offered by the island of Capri. There were 59 invited lectures given as oral presentations of 30 minutes and 94 poster papers. The major topics covered at the Conference where new experimental and theoretical results in quantum information. They were divided in five parts; i) Quantum Information and Communication, ii) Quantum Measurement, - coherence, and Tomography, iii) Quantum Computing, iv) Cryptography, v) Entanglement and Teleportation. We were lucky in that almost all major - perimental groups in the world working in this area were represented, as were the major theoreticians. There was very active audience participation. A n- ber of graduate students and post-docs were able to present their contributions in four after dinner poster sessions.

Fundamentals of Quantum Entanglement

Fundamentals of Quantum Entanglement PDF Author: Frank J. Duarte
Publisher:
ISBN: 9780750322287
Category : Quantum entanglement
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
Quantum entanglement (QE) is undoubtedly one of the most, if not the most, mysterious and yet most promising subjects of current physics. With applications in cryptographic space-to-space, space-to-earth, and fibre communications, in addition to teleportation and quantum computing, QE goes beyond fascination and into the pragmatic spheres of commerce and the military. This book is written by Professor Duarte, an expert in the field of quantum optics. He provides the first side-by-side description of the philosophical path and the physical path to quantum entanglement, and does so in a clear and cohesive manner. This is also the first book to describe and explain, in a transparent exposition, the interferometric derivation, à la Dirac, of the ubiquitous probability amplitude for quantum entanglement. The book will be useful for optical engineers working in the field of quantum entanglement and quantum communications as well as graduate students. The book includes 29 succinct, to the point, chapters and utilizes 10 useful appendices to further detail QE. Part of Series in Coherent Sources and Applications.

Pages : 432

Book Description
The Singularity. It is the era of the posthuman. Artificial intelligences have surpassed the limits of human intellect. Biotechnological beings have rendered people all but extinct. Molecular nanotechnology runs rampant, replicating and reprogramming at will. Contact with extraterrestrial life grows more imminent with each new day. Struggling to survive and thrive in this accelerated world are three generations of the Macx clan: Manfred, an entrepreneur dealing in intelligence amplification technology whose mind is divided between his physical environment and the Internet; his daughter, Amber, on the run from her domineering mother, seeking her fortune in the outer system as an indentured astronaut; and Sirhan, Amber’s son, who finds his destiny linked to the fate of all of humanity. For something is systematically dismantling the nine planets of the solar system. Something beyond human comprehension. Something that has no use for biological life in any form...
