Statistics for Business and Economics

Statistics for Business and Economics PDF Author: Franz W. Peren
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 366264276X
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 221

Book Description
This compendium contains and explains essential statistical formulas within an economic context. A broad range of aids and supportive examples will help readers to understand the formulas and their practical applications. This statistical formulary is presented in a practice-oriented, clear, and understandable manner, as it is needed for meaningful and relevant application in global business, as well as in the academic setting and economic practice. The topics presented include, but are not limited to: statistical signs and symbols, descriptive statistics, empirical distributions, ratios and index figures, correlation analysis, regression analysis, inferential statistics, probability calculation, probability distributions, theoretical distributions, statistical estimation methods, confidence intervals, statistical testing methods, the Peren-Clement index, and the usual statistical tables. Given its scope, the book offers an indispensable reference guide and is a must-read for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as managers, scholars, and lecturers in business, politics, and economics.

Potentiality, Entanglement and Passion-at-a-Distance

Potentiality, Entanglement and Passion-at-a-Distance PDF Author: Robert S. Cohen
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9780792344537
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 298

Book Description
Potentiality, Entanglement and Passion-at-a-Distance is a book for theoretical physicists and philosophers of modern physics. It treats a puzzling and provocative aspect of recent quantum physics: the apparent interaction of certain physical events that cannot share any causal connection. These are said to be `entangled' in some way, but an explanation remains elusive. Abner Shimony - to whom the book is dedicated - and others suggest the need to revive the category of what may be seen as a metaphysical potentiality. Abner has described these events without actions to link them as `passion at a distance': not active, but passive. The discussions gathered here are written by a truly remarkable cast of scientists and philosophers and shed new light on the most profound puzzles of our times.

Technical Thermodynamics for Engineers

Technical Thermodynamics for Engineers PDF Author: Achim Schmidt
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3030203972
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 813

Book Description
Thermodynamics is a subject that all engineering students have to face and that most of them treat with great respect. This makes it all the more important to offer a good and easy-to-understand approach to the laws of energy conversion. This is what this textbook is intended to do: It covers the basics of classical technical thermodynamics as they are typically taught at universities: The first and second law of thermodynamics as well as equations of state are explained for idealized and real fluids which are subject to a phase change. Thermodynamic mixtures, e.g. humid air, are treated as well as chemical reactions. Components and thermodynamic cycle that convert energy are presented. The book attaches great importance to drawings and illustrations, which should make it easier to comprehend complex matter. Technical applications and apparatus are presented and explained. Numerous exercises and examples conclude the book and contribute to a better understanding of the theory.

Handbook of Elliptic Integrals for Engineers and Scientists

Handbook of Elliptic Integrals for Engineers and Scientists PDF Author: Paul F. Byrd
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642651380
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 376

Book Description
Engineers and physicists are more and more encountering integrations involving nonelementary integrals and higher transcendental functions. Such integrations frequently involve (not always in immediately re cognizable form) elliptic functions and elliptic integrals. The numerous books written on elliptic integrals, while of great value to the student or mathematician, are not especially suitable for the scientist whose primary objective is the ready evaluation of the integrals that occur in his practical problems. As a result, he may entirely avoid problems which lead to elliptic integrals, or is likely to resort to graphical methods or other means of approximation in dealing with all but the simplest of these integrals. It became apparent in the course of my work in theoretical aero dynamics that there was a need for a handbook embodying in convenient form a comprehensive table of elliptic integrals together with auxiliary formulas and numerical tables of values. Feeling that such a book would save the engineer and physicist much valuable time, I prepared the present volume.
