A Concise History of the Muslim World

A Concise History of the Muslim World PDF Author: Rafi Ahmad Fidai
Publisher: Independently Published
ISBN:

Pages : 248

Book Description
No historian can deny the fact that Islam has bestowed upon mankind lots of virtues. Before Islam, man would be afraid of every strange, unique or powerful thing, and would bow down before that, but Islam dispelled all such notions. It taught and convinced man that he is the best of all creatures', so he need to be submissive to anyone except his Creator. It was this concept that created in man's mind self confidence and self-respect. Man remained no longer afraid of nature but determined to conquer the forces of nature. Islam changed not only the religious and spiritual attitude of man but in fact, it changed the whole pattern of human life. It brought basic changes in human thought, philosophy, culture and civilization. It showed the social and economic justice. It made no difference between man and man, black and white, have and have-notes. It declared that all men are equal and there should be no injustice to anyone but justice to all. Here we have no space enough to describe all the virtues. Islam bestowed on mankind, but in short it can be claimed that no other religion faith of ideology could grant human beings as many virtues as Islam did. This is not merely a hollow claim but history bears witness to it. History speaks well and offers a vivid picture of what Islam gave to the world during its fourteen hundred years. It also shows how Islam treated the world and how the world treated it. So those, who are interested in human history, and who want to know facts about man's journey from Adam (as) to this day, must study unbiased Islamic history. This book is an effort in that direction. Although concise but it describes at least all the main events of Islamic history, just from its advent upto date. This book is the first volume of the work that is extended to three volumes. This volume starts from the advent of Islam and ends with the Pious Caliphs Table of Contents Chapter 1 - The World at the advent of Islam Chapter 2 - Muhammad - The Last Prophet [Meccan Life] Chapter 3 - Muhammad - The Last Prophet [Madinite Life] Chapter 4 - The perpetual teachings Pillars of Islam The ideal Islamic state of madina Chapter 5 -Abu bakr Siddiq (Ra), The first Caliph Chapter 6 - Umar Ibn al Khattab (Ra), The second CaliphÉ Chapter 7 - Hazrat Usman Bin Affan (Ra), The third Caliph Chapter 8 - Hazrat Ali Bin Abi Talib (Ra), The Fourth Caliph Chapter 9 - Hazrat Hasan bin Ali (Ra) Chapter 10 - The significance of the Pious Caliphate

Islam, Science Fiction and Extraterrestrial Life

Islam, Science Fiction and Extraterrestrial Life PDF Author: Jörg Matthias Determann
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
ISBN: 0755601300
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 289

Book Description
The Muslim world is not commonly associated with science fiction. Religion and repression have often been blamed for a perceived lack of creativity, imagination and future-oriented thought. However, even the most authoritarian Muslim-majority countries have produced highly imaginative accounts on one of the frontiers of knowledge: astrobiology, or the study of life in the universe. This book argues that the Islamic tradition has been generally supportive of conceptions of extra-terrestrial life, and in this engaging account, Jörg Matthias Determann provides a survey of Arabic, Bengali, Malay, Persian, Turkish, and Urdu texts and films, to show how scientists and artists in and from Muslim-majority countries have been at the forefront of the exciting search. Determann takes us to little-known dimensions of Muslim culture and religion, such as wildly popular adaptations of Star Wars and mysterious movements centred on UFOs. Repression is shown to have helped science fiction more than hurt it, with censorship encouraging authors to disguise criticism of contemporary politics by setting plots in future times and on distant planets. The book will be insightful for anyone looking to explore the science, culture and politics of the Muslim world and asks what the discovery of extra-terrestrial life would mean for one of the greatest faiths.

The Muslim Book of Why

The Muslim Book of Why PDF Author: Imam Warithudeen Umar
Publisher: iUniverse
ISBN: 1475946597
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 309

Book Description
Islam is a very mysterious and complex faith, one of intellectual depth in prayer and practice. It is unfortunate that the teachings of Islam have been marred by centuries of intellectual malaise, political misdirection, extremism, and disunity, leaving many spiritual wanderersboth Muslim and non-Muslimto ponder a plethora of unaddressed questions about these sacred teachings. In his newest book, The Muslim Book of Why: What Everyone Should Know about Islam, author, scholar, and leading jihad theorist Warithudeen Umar highlights the concept of ijtihad in an attempt to help answer many of todays most pressing questions about Islam. Ijtihad is described as a creative and disciplined intellectual effort to derive legal rulings from Islamic sources while taking into consideration the variables brought on by the fluctuating circumstances of the Muslim world. Though the world has changed and expanded, humanitys need for these teachings viewed through the clarifying concept of ijtihad has not. To right these wrongs of gross misguidance within Muslim society, we must deconstruct history in order to discern what went wrong after the revelation of the Quran was shared with the world. The Muslim Book of Why seeks to do so, refocusing Muslim thought on a life of faith, family development, and worship.
