Book Description
Northwest Illinois, 1885. Mitch and Andy Jensen's Adventure in the Haunted Woods will teach them lessons of God's unconditional love and His perspective about vampires and zombies. Do they really exist? A violent storm causes school to close early, and Mitch and Andy find themselves taking a shortcut through the haunted woods to get home. Ignoring the legends that say the woods are filled with vampire zombies, they stumble upon an old miner's cabin deep in the woods. Thinking they found shelter from the storm, they are scared off when they see glowing red eyes staring at them from inside. There is never a dull moment in this sequel to Mitch and Andy's Adventure on the Tyler City Trail. Readers get to visit Grandpa Joe's cattle ranch, learn about the final roundup from Uncle Stew, and meet Mitch and Andy's school friends including the new boy who arrives late every day and is the first to leave. Why won't he talk to anyone? Mitch and Andy's Adventure in the Haunted Woods teaches all those involved, including the reader that God goes with us when we are afraid and that He loves us so much that he made a way for us to be at His final roundup feast.

Book Description
Over Forty Tales of Ghosts and Paranormal Experiences Founded as a harbor town to ship iron ore from the nearby mines, Marquette became known as the Queen City of the North for its thriving industries, beautiful buildings, and being the largest city in Upper Michigan. But is Marquette also the Queen of Lake Superior’s Haunted Cities? Seventh-generation Marquette resident Tyler Tichelaar has spent years collecting tales of the many ghosts who haunt the cemeteries, churches, businesses, hotels, and homes of Marquette. Now, separating fact from fiction, he delves into the historical record to determine which stories may be true and which are just the fancies of frightened minds. Hear the chilling tales of: • The wicked nun who killed an orphan boy • The librarian mourning her sailor lover • The drowned sailors who climb out of Lake Superior at night • The glowing lantern of the decapitated train conductor • The mailman who gave his life for the U.S. mail • More ghostly ladies in floor-length white gowns than any haunted city should have Haunted Marquette opens up a fourth dimension view of the Queen City’s past and reveals that much of it is still present.

Encyclopedia of American Short Films, 1926-1959

Encyclopedia of American Short Films, 1926-1959 PDF Author: Graham Webb

Book Description
Short subject films have a long history in American cinemas. These could be anywhere from 2 to 40 minutes long and were used as a "filler" in a picture show that would include a cartoon, a newsreel, possibly a serial and a short before launching into the feature film. Shorts could tackle any topic of interest: an unusual travelogue, a comedy, musical revues, sports, nature or popular vaudeville acts. With the advent of sound-on-film in the mid-to-late 1920s, makers of earlier silent short subjects began experimenting with the short films, using them as a testing ground for the use of sound in feature movies. After the Second World War, and the rising popularity of television, short subject films became far too expensive to produce and they had mostly disappeared from the screens by the late 1950s. This encyclopedia offers comprehensive listings of American short subject films from the 1920s through the 1950s.
