Jesus Son of God—Son of Man Jesus Is Our Pattern

Jesus Son of God—Son of Man Jesus Is Our Pattern PDF Author: J. Harlow Holmes
Publisher: WestBow Press
ISBN: 1973658550
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 504

Book Description
This is a Commentary like no other today. It reveals the true nature of Jesus as He walked on the earth and fulfilled the very necessary role that was required because of Adam’s fall. It fulfills the passage of I Corinthians 15:45—the last Adam. Jesus had to be like us in order to take our place. He was not God in flesh as preached today from most pulpits. He was the manifestation of God, His Father. Manifestation is the KEY word. He was God manifested in the flesh. When the Apostles saw Jesus in action they saw God the Father, John 14:9-11. We can see God in Jesus. Another important message is that Jesus was our pattern. We, the Church, should be doing the things that He did today. He Said to the disciples:“As the Father sent Me, so send I you.”John 20:21. Then He included us in His prayer in John 17:20-21. The Bible has been translated by those who believe in the doctrine of the Trinity. This came from Constantine and the first Nicene Creed in the 300s AD with the penalty of death involving over 200 Bishops if rhey did not sign it as he commanded. It seems that two were willing to die for the truth. All that was required to emphasize that Jesus was God just involved some prepositions and pronouns. However, the bulk of Jesus’ confession indicates otherwise. The Prologue is the foundation of proof that Jesus was a human being just like you and me. The Lord told me that most everyone is a product of someone else’s teaching today. However, when I was first filled with the Holy Spirit in my mid-twenties Jesus told me to let Him teach me. I have been faithful to that command for nearly 65 years. This commentary is the result of that command.

The Empowerment of The Holy Spirit

The Empowerment of The Holy Spirit PDF Author: (Rev.) Dr. Astley G. Mitchell
Publisher: Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
ISBN: 1098045408
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 186

Book Description
The Holy Spirit, which is the Third Person of the Godhead, will guide you in your daily life. Jesus says that He will send another comforter. The Holy Spirit gives you life. The Holy Spirit is the power of God. The Holy Spirit is a healer. Without the Holy Spirit, we are weak. We are spiritually dead at the birth of Jesus. It was the Holy Spirit at His ministry. It was the Holy Spirit that guided Him at His death. It was the Holy Spirit that kept Him at His resurrection. It was the Holy Spirit that raised Him from the dead. It is the same Holy Spirit that keeps the believer in this present world and keeps the church strong in the Lord. When I were to write my thesis, I was prompt to write on the Holy Spirit. I want to say that the Holy Spirit through the power of God is a healer because I have been healed from being in a wheelchair.

Dictionary of Biblical Imagery

Dictionary of Biblical Imagery PDF Author: Leland Ryken
Publisher: InterVarsity Press
ISBN: 0830867333
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 1086

Book Description
A Christianity Today 1999 Book of the Year Every reader of the Bible has encountered the powerful, comforting and sometimes puzzling imagery of Scripture. These concrete pictures with their hidden force have struck sharp and lasting impressions on our minds. Their imprint has etched itself on the language and grammar of Christian faith and Western culture. Why then do traditional Bible dictionaries and reference works offer so little help to explorers of the Bible's galaxy of verbal pictures? They excel in describing the climate, borders and location of Galilee or Sinai. But they are often blind to the artistic expressions and deaf to the musical meanings that echo from within the world of the biblical text. The Dictionary of Biblical Imagery is the first contemporary reference work dedicated to exploring the images, symbols, motifs, metaphors and literary patterns found in the Bible. More than that, it examines the Bible's universal archetypes or master images--including the plot motifs and character types that recur throughout life, literature and the Bible. This unique dictionary explores the dazzling variety in which the Word of God comes dressed in clothes of everyday life. It traces the trail of images from Eden to the New Jerusalem. It captures the plotted patterns of biblical narrative. It surveys the imaged texture of each book of the Bible. In short, The Dictionary of Biblical Imagery is an inviting, enlightening and indispensable companion to the reading, study, contemplation and enjoyment of the Bible.
