Military Intelligence PDF Author: John Patrick Finnegan
Publisher: CreateSpace
ISBN: 9781507680322
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 458

Book Description
Military Intelligence contains both a narrative branch history and the lineage and honors for 108 Regular Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard military intelligence units-brigades, groups, and battalions, the echelons authorized distinctive heraldic items. Based on official records attesting to the history of the respective units, John Patrick Finnegan and Romana Danysh ably capture the organizational evolution of the Military Intelligence Corps. Mindful of safeguarding intelligence sources and methods, Finnegan makes no pretense at discussing the operational aspects and the complex interrelationships between Army intelligence and other organizations in the intelligence community. His focus is on the slow development and eventual emergence of professional Army intelligence organizations and functions. The lineage and honors complied by Danysh and the colorful heraldic items foster unit pride, thereby enhancing esprit de corps among the thousands of military intelligence specialists now serving their nation. The military intelligence story, a relatively unknown part of the Army's heritage, is a story worth reading.

Intelligence Collection

Intelligence Collection PDF Author: Wayne Michael Hall
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing USA
ISBN:
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 352

Book Description
This book examines the theoretical and conceptual foundation of effective modern intelligence collection—the strategies required to support intelligence analysis of the modern, complex operational environments of today's military conflicts or competitive civilian situations such as business. Just as the old rules of conventional warfare and intelligence analysis do not apply fully in the 21st-century environment, neither does the traditional methodology of collecting intelligence on these elusive, adapting foes operating as complex adaptive systems (CAS)—adversaries that excel in today's complex contexts. Intelligence Collection: How To Plan and Execute Intelligence Collection In Complex Environments proposes substantive improvements in the way the U.S. national security system collects intelligence and supports intelligence analysis. The work draws on the groundbreaking work of a diverge group of theorists ranging from Carl von Clausewitz and Sun Tzu to M. Mitchell Waldrop, General David Petraeus, and Orson Scott Card, communicating a unifying theory and ontology of thought for how America's intelligence collection professionals must learn to collect data as our country faces elusive, determined, and smart adversaries in nonlinear, dynamic environments. The new ideas presented will help the nation's intelligence collection specialists to amass a formidable, cumulative intelligence power, regardless of the level of war or the type of operational environment.

A New Approach for Measuring the Operational Value of Intelligence for Military Operations

A New Approach for Measuring the Operational Value of Intelligence for Military Operations PDF Author: Edison Cesar

ISBN: 9780833013873
Category : Electronic book

Pages : 147

Book Description
Policymakers have long needed an improved analytic basis for their investment decisions regarding military intelligence assets. This report presents a new methodology for measuring the operational value of military intelligence, electronic warfare, and target acquisition (IEW/TA) and also describes two prototype models for studying IEW/TA in an operational context. The methodology enables the operational value of intelligence assets and activities to be expressed in quantifiable terms useful to resource acquisition decisionmakers, military planners, and operational managers. One application of the methodology is to help build the intelligence portion of the Army five-year program. The two prototype models were designed as aids for performing policy and other analysis of key issues. One is a spreadsheet model that can be used to assess the operational value of a given IEW/TA architecture at a point in time under various conditions; the other is a dynamic simulation that can be used to study how the value of IEW/TA changes through the course of an operation.
