Book Description
By 1300, medieval men and women were beginning to measure multitude, counting, for example, numbers of boys and girls being baptized. Their mental capacity to grapple with population, to get its measure, was developing and this book describes how medieval people thought about population through both the texts which contained their thought and the medieval realities which shaped it. They found many topics, such as the history of population and variations between polygamy, monogamy and virginity, through theology. Crusade and travel literature supplied the themes of Muslim polygamy, military numbers, the colonization of the Holy Land, and the populations of Mongolia and China. Translations of Aristotle provided not only new themes but also a new vocabulary with which to think about population. In this innovative new study Peter Biller challenges the view that medieval thought was fundamentally abstract. He investigates medieval thought's capacity to deal with concrete contemporary realities, and sets academic discussions of population alongside the medieval facts of 'birth, and copulation, and death'.

ISBN: 1098000218
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 868

Book Description
This book tells us that God has a mindset to expound many peculiar things which are unheard of within most Christians communities. Do you know that very shortly, Christianity will cover the whole earth, stirring up a new movement by a sense of purity as the waters cover the sea? There will always be more of us than of them! Read and be refreshed! Do you know that the Spirit from on high is about to pour out over all nations? He is the governor of the nations. Read it and give Him no rest! Do you know that (this is a tough one) Israel's borders will be out of shape to build his borders as God promised to Abraham? Read and be ready! Do you know that unless Jerusalem is rebuilt, our Messiah is not coming? God commanded it to Jerusalem now! Read and be restored! Do you know that the gathering of the Jews (144,000) and us (Judah's extended family) are a part of this movement by the Spirit of God to place us in the land of the living, which is approaching faster? Read, pray, and be revived to be a part of this movement! Do you know that Jerusalem will have an earthquake to lift up the land higher to set up Zion for deliverance, and no evil dares touch this plan? Read and be exceedingly glad! Do you know that Israel will have approximately twenty-one years of peace, and the land will be like the Garden of Eden before Armageddon comes? Do you know that New Jerusalem will appear for our glory to welcome her husband before Jesus comes? Do you know that all churches of Rev. 2""3 will rejoice before God, none will be lost? Read and dance with joy! Finally, do you know that the mark of the beast is not our threat? Read and rejoice that your names are written in heaven! Read and see what we saw: "Suddenly, we see a panoramic view of this greatest multitude, which no man can number! The earth quivers when they worship as if none can rest because of their loud voice. Oh, what will God do when He hears the babes that are crying, 'Salvation to our God?' The windows of heaven will open up and the Word of God will proceed out of His mouth saying..." Read the book and find out for yourself.

Multitude

Multitude PDF Author: Michael Hardt
Publisher: Penguin
ISBN: 110101041X
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 448

Book Description
In their international bestseller Empire, Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri presented a grand unified vision of a world in which the old forms of imperialism are no longer effective. But what of Empire in an age of “American empire”? Has fear become our permanent condition and democracy an impossible dream? Such pessimism is profoundly mistaken, the authors argue. Empire, by interconnecting more areas of life, is actually creating the possibility for a new kind of democracy, allowing different groups to form a multitude, with the power to forge a democratic alternative to the present world order.Exhilarating in its optimism and depth of insight, Multitude consolidates Hardt and Negri’s stature as two of the most important political philosophers at work in the world today.
